It’s National Black Women Physician’s Day!
Facts:
-this holiday started 2/8/2021
-it is on the birthday of Dr Rebecca Lee Crumpler M.D., who at age 33 became the first African American woman to receive a doctor of medicine degree in 1864
-She graduated from the New England Female Medical College.
-she collaborated with the Freedmen’s bureau and other groups to help provide medical care for the recently freed, the very poor and those who had limited no access to care.
-she wrote a book, A Book of Medical Discourses.

Black women make up approximately 2.8% of all physicians.
I’m proud to be one of the 2.8%, and I’m proud to have Dr Rebecca Lee Crumpler to look up to. 👊🏾

1. It’s Black History Month!!!!
2. It’s National Women Physician’s Day!!!!

Stats: Approximately……
30% of all Physicians are women
5% of all Physicians are Black
Less than 3% of Black Physicans are Black Women

So when you see us out here, we are history, becoming, walking and striving!
