🌺 Welcome to the Kona Krew, Karen! 🌺
Arizona, meet your newest therapist — and we think you’re going to love her. 💛

We’re excited to welcome Karen Soza, LMSW, to the Kona Counseling team here in Arizona! Karen brings a warm, compassionate, and non-judgmental approach to therapy, creating a space where clients feel truly seen, supported, and empowered. ✨

Beyond the therapy room, Karen is a creative soul who loves:
📚 Reading (she’s a Lord of the Rings superfan)
🍳 Cooking + baking
🧶 Knitting and all things hands-on + cozy
🎶 Music of all genres — depends on the vibe
🌎 Exploring the world (she’s lived in 4 countries, including 2 years in Japan!)
🏞️ Hiking + diving into history
👨‍👩‍👧 Time with family — her heart and home

Her global experiences have shaped her belief that change is constant, and she brings that perspective into her work with clients — meeting them exactly where they are, with empathy, curiosity, and genuine care.

✨ If you’re looking for a therapist who honors your story, embraces your growth, and supports you through life’s transitions, Karen is here for you.

Help us give Karen a warm Kona welcome below ⬇️💬

Happy Halloween! 🎃✨

Here’s to:

🍬 “Sampling” your child’s candy for safety (we see you, parents)
🐶 Pets who didn’t consent to their costume fitting
🧛‍♀️ The one neighbor who hands out full-size candy bars — we appreciate you

Whether you’re trick-or-treating, passing out candy, or hiding in the dark pretending you’re not home (we don’t judge)…
We hope your night is full of laughs and sweet moments. 🌺

No perfect timing. No magic day. No “right” age.
Just start — even if it’s messy, late, or halfway through the month. 🌺
Progress doesn’t wait for perfect conditions — and you don’t have to either. 💪🏽

Sometimes we try to control or ignore what we feel, but emotions aren’t obstacles — they’re information. Therapy helps you tune in, translate, and respond with compassion instead of judgment. 💙

Hyper-independence: the quiet art of saying “I’m fine” while drowning—because somewhere along the way, needing help started to feel dangerous. Healing begins when you reach for a hand.

When you finally stop comparing yourself to everyone else and realize—being you is the win. 😎

🎬 Ever hit “play” on the same movie for the hundredth time? For many, it’s more than nostalgia — it’s a way to feel safe, calm, and in control.

For people who’ve experienced trauma, rewatching familiar films can be a powerful coping tool. The predictability, the comfort of knowing every line, even the way certain characters make us feel — all of it can help regulate emotions and bring a sense of stability.

Therapists sometimes even use these “comfort movies” as grounding tools or as gentle entry points to explore themes of safety, control, and emotional needs.

✨ So next time you press replay, know it’s not “silly” — it might be your nervous system’s way of finding calm.

🌸 Welcome, Emily! 🌸

We’re so excited to introduce Emily, our newest therapist in Colorado! She brings over a decade of medical field experience and a warm, down-to-earth approach that helps clients feel instantly at ease. Emily works with older teens and adults navigating anxiety, trauma, grief, life transitions, and those “what am I doing with my life?” moments.

When she’s not in session, you’ll find her hiking, snowboarding, lifting weights, chasing her son, or hanging out with her husband and two pups. 🐾
