Hello, I’m Dr. Daniel Carlow. Welcome to Islands Chiropractic and Massage. I hope your experience here helps you see what we have to offer and how we are genuinely concerned with improving your health.
From a very young age I was interested in health. When I grew up the weightlifting gyms were just beginning to become mainstream. Healthy lifestyles were beginning to catch on, people were choosing healthier food options, and the running craze was in swing. I wanted to know what true health was and how to attain it. That’s when chiropractic came across my path.
I was initially skeptical of chiropractic only having heard from some that it couldn’t help. A friend recommended me to his chiropractor when I told him I was having some back spasms. I knew taking medicine to cover up my symptoms was not correcting my problem so I gave chiropractic a try. I was amazed at how quickly I improved and how much sense chiropractic made. I always wanted to know WHY I had the problem and LEARN what I could do to fix it. Chiropractic gave me that answer.
Simply put, chiropractors find misaligned spinal bones and realign them taking irritation off the body so it can function normally again. My chiropractor also recommended massage, exercise, stretching and a healthy diet. It was a perfect fit for what I knew to be true. I soon began taking the required prerequisite courses and later attended Palmer Chiropractic College graduated in 1993. I chose chiropractic as a career because I loved the idea of being able to help people with a natural approach without using drugs or surgery.
