PUBLIC SAFETY ALERT: Fentanyl-Laced Tablets Shaped as Cartoon Characters

The Huntington Police Department would like to alert the community that yesterday, the Huntington Violent Crime Drug Task Force seized more than 900 multi-colored tablets pressed into the shape of a popular cartoon character. The tablets were molded to resemble an emblem from the "Transformers" series. They were brightly colored and approximately the size of a child’s vitamin, increasing the likelihood that they could be mistaken for candy.

Preliminary field testing conducted by investigators indicates the tablets tested positive for M**A (commonly known as “ecstasy” or “molly”) as well as fentanyl, a highly potent and potentially lethal synthetic opioid that has been linked to hundreds of thousands of overdose deaths nationwide.

While M**A itself presents significant health risks, the presence of fentanyl dramatically increases the likelihood of overdose and death. These tablets are commonly distributed and sold as ecstasy in street-level transactions and in club environments. With the addition of fentanyl, even a single tablet may prove fatal.

The Huntington Police Department strongly urges parents and guardians to speak with their children and teenagers about the serious dangers of consuming unknown substances. These tablets are intentionally designed to appeal to younger individuals, and their candy-like appearance poses a particular risk to small children who may unknowingly ingest them.

We strongly urge anyone with information regarding the distribution of illegal substances, drug activity, or other criminal behavior to contact us:
