We are thrilled to announce that Dr. Malica Mantrala will be joining us and working out of our Gilbert office starting March 30th! 🩷

Welcome to Desert Shores Pediatrics Dr. Mantrala!!
Malica Mantrala, MD, MPH, FAAP grew up in Pullman, a small rural town in Washington State, before moving to Seattle, where she completed both her undergraduate studies and medical school at the University of Washington. Prior to medical school, she spent two years in Philadelphia earning her Masters of Public Health from Drexel University.

She moved to Arizona to complete her pediatric residency at Phoenix Children’s Hospital/Maricopa Medical Center and unexpectedly fell in love with this area and its community. The desert beauty drew her in, and she loved the diversity of activities here— so they stayed!

Outside of medicine, she has a wonderful husband and two energetic children in elementary school who keep life fun and busy. She enjoys spending time with family and friends, trying new foods, taking long walks outdoors, traveling, and singing. She loves exploring new cultures and takes pride in her own as well. Dr. Mantrala is Indian by heritage and is a ‘desi’ girl through and through! You may see her at local Indian restaurants, events and grocery stores. If you see her in the community, please say hi!

Dr. Mantrala finds it incredibly rewarding to care for children, support families, and build lasting relationships. She’s grateful to call Arizona home and looks forward to getting to know you and becoming part of your family’s village of support.

We advocate for the best for your children. And we make tough decisions together - collaboratively. Worried about Flu? Us too. There's another spike in Maricopa & Pinal Counties complicated by a more severe mutated strain, H3N2. Kids in our offices are testing positive and look sicker. Our busy pediatric practice is seeking an experienced Medical Biller (Full-Time, Monday–Friday 8–5) to join our team. This role is ideal for someone who is detail‑oriented, organized, and comfortable working in a fast‑paced clinical environment. The ideal candidate understands the unique nuances of pediatric billing and is committed to accuracy, compliance, and excellent communication.

Schedule: Monday through Friday, 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM
Employment Type: Full-time

Medical, Dental, 401K Benefits available
Key Responsibilities
Submit accurate and timely claims to multiple payers through a clearinghouse
Review and correct claim edits, denials, and rejections
Verify insurance eligibility and benefits
Post payments, reconcile accounts, and follow up on outstanding balances
Communicate with payers, parents/guardians, and internal clinical staff
Maintain compliance with coding and billing regulations, including pediatric‑specific guidelines
Qualifications
Previous medical billing experience required (pediatrics preferred)
Strong understanding of CPT, ICD‑10‑CM, and payer policies
CPC, CBCS, CPEDC preferred but not required
Proficiency with EHR/PM systems, eCW experience is a plus
Excellent attention to detail, communication skills, and problem‑solving abilities
