Nineteen years since Amber Neubauer, our CEO and SLP, made it her mission to not only equip families of children with special needs with the proper resources to help them thrive, but to also empower her fellow therapists to be the very best at their craft.

This coming Saturday is World Down Syndrome Day! This date was chosen uniquely, because March 21st (or 3/21) corresponds with the 3 copies of chromosome 21. To celebrate the people with Down syndrome in your community, school or even online, make sure you wear a pair of fun, colorful and mismatched socks on Saturday and snap a photo! This is a small way to show your support and solidarity with an amazing community! 💛💙

March is Developmental Disabilities Awareness Month, which serves to shine a light on and raise awareness for the needs of those in our communities who are living with unique conditions such as Cerebral palsy, Autism, ADHD, hearing loss or visual impairment, and other learning or physical disabilities and challenges.

But how do we do this in practice? A few ways!

🧡 Help share stories and uplift positive voices from the DD community
🧡 Be an advocate for those with developmental disabilities when the moment arises
🧡 Use positive language surrounding developmental disabilities and follow the lead of those within the community
🧡 Educate yourself on developmental disabilities instead of making assumptions or leaning on common (sometimes incorrect) knowledge

Happy weekend!! Please help us welcome Sami to the ETS team. She’s joining us in the role of Service Coordinator and has nine years of experience in teaching preschool special education, and first and second grade. Sami loves building relationships and helping others, and we’re so glad to have her with us! 🩵🎊

AAC practice out in the wild! Vicki, one of our wonderful SLPAs met up with her Telehealth client, Landon, at In and Out Burger to work on his new AAC Device. Practical implication and in-person opportunities are an amazing way to help foster relationships and boost layered communication. And having a side of fries doesn’t hurt, either! 🍟💛

Please help us welcome Miriam to the team! She is joining us as a COTA with experience working with pediatric clients across a variety of settings. In particular, she has worked closely with children and families in outpatient and in-home environments, supporting the development of fine motor skills, sensory regulation, motor planning and functional independence.
