Important Network Update:

UnitedHealthcare has us showing in-network for their Arizona MARKETPLACE plans for 2022.

We are NOT participating in their new marketplace network and have no plans to.

There's no real way for us to communicate to those that are looking at this - and it's frustrating to us that we're showing in-network for those that will be looking for a marketplace plan. It's just out of our control despite asking them to remove it from the marketplace listing.

We ARE in network for UnitedHealthcare for most of their other offerings.

Wash your hands, stay home when sick, be kind, and do what you can to help others (yes, this includes using masks appropriately.)

OFFICE UPDATE: 5/9/2020

We are committed to providing the best care for your family, our staff and the community. We are grateful for the efforts people are making at staying healthy and safe, and obviously saddened by the continued illness that's occurred and occurring. We all can still make a difference with the choices we make, and we will continue to make our office as safe a place as we can for your children and family.

We have been doing visits with "healthy" children in the mornings, and visits for children with acute, sick illnesses only after lunch to try to provide increased separation.

The American Academy of Pediatrics has now recommended that we resume seeing all children for their regular well-child care needs, as many kids have missed opportunities for care and vaccination updates.

Effective immediately, we are instituting the following changes:

- We will expand seeing well child visits to 8:30 am - 12:00 pm and 1:30 pm - 2:45 pm daily.

- Sick appointments will be offered in the afternoon between 3:15 pm - 5:00 pm.

- We ask that you and your child(ren) 2 and above bring (and wear) masks in the office. This potentially helps protect you and others from illness. Although it's not a perfect solution, it IS better than not wearing a mask. It is not required that you do so, but requested. We cannot provide masks to everyone as we are already struggling to get enough protective equipment ourselves.

- We are now offering telemedicine visits by video for certain concerns, so that you don't have to come into the office if we can care for it over video: some sick visits like skin problems; asthma medication management; behavioral health concerns, like ADHD and medication checks; some chronic care needs.

Please remember:

* If you or your child is ill, or has been exposed to someone with coronavirus (COVID-19) or recently traveled to a high-risk area, your child’s well visit appointment will be rescheduled to an afternoon “sick” time or another day.

* Please limit the number of people that come with your child to the appointment to only one parent. If that’s just not possible (we know it’s hard with school being out) – everyone must be healthy (no cough, congestion, recent fevers or exposure to someone with known COVID-19.) If you or a child has illness symptoms during “well” visit times, we ask that you let us know and we'll reschedule.

Please note, that we are NOT doing COVID-19 testing in our office, PCR or blood testing. Banner offers drive-though sites where you can get tested. Call 1-844-549-1851 to discuss and schedule an appointment.

This statement is from the medical director for the state health department: “During this time with limited testing, it is critical that you tell your patients with any respiratory illness to self-isolate at home, drink fluids and rest. The vast majority of people do very well recovering at home. Getting a COVID-19 test does not change the treatment or the outcome. Patients with respiratory symptoms will be told to self isolate until 72 hours after their fever and symptoms resolve, regardless of a test result. Availability of testing is not what will ultimately impact the spread of this outbreak. But staying home when sick, washing our hands, not touching our faces, and avoiding unnecessary physical contact and group gatherings of more than 10 people will.”

Thank you in advance for your understanding and cooperation during these challenging times. We will do our best to be able to provide the best and safest care for your children!

Hi Friends and Families -

Regardless of your faith tradition, we invite you to join with us in a day of faith, prayer and fasting this Good Friday.

"For all whose health may permit, let us fast, pray and unite our faith... that the present pandemic may be controlled, caregivers be protected, the economy strengthened, and life normalized..." Russell M. Nelson

Our office will be closed for the holiday on Friday, April 10th. If your child needs to be seen urgently, you can find suggested pediatric urgent cares on our website.
You can get daytime telephone advice from your insurance company triage line, or call us after 5pm Friday for our nurse triage.
Stay home, and stay safe this weekend.

We are now able (and encouraging, for some things) televideo visits. This will allow us to still help your kids, without having to come into the office. Please call use, and we’ll schedule a time for a call. You’ll get a text notification with an invitation to a chat. You don’t have to install anything - it’ll open a browser window on your phone.

We hope you and your families are being wise, and being safe during this time.

If you do have an in-office appointment, please avoid bringing others with you. And if you’re sick - please don’t be the one to bring your child.

Thanks for helping us keep it safe for everyone and our staff.

Coronavirus (COVID-19) Update: Testing

Effective 3/23/2020, Banner Health has established four drive-through specimen collection sites in Arizona - three in the Phoenix area and one in Tucson. If you believe you or your child needs to be tested, please call the COVID-19 screening line at 1-844-549-1851.

Please note: Banner’s drive-through sites will not accept walk-ins for this test. Everyone must be phone screened in advance, meet state criteria for testing, and be scheduled for an appointment to do this test. Those who arrive without an appointment will be asked to leave and call 1-844-549-1851 to complete the phone screening process.

At All-Star Pediatrics, we are committed to providing the best care for your family, our staff and the community. There are new suggestions from the American Academy of Pediatrics and the CDC to help protect us all from COVID-19.

Effective immediately, we are instituting the following changes:

- We will only be seeing well child visits between 8:00 am - 12:00 pm.
- Sick appointments will be offered in the afternoon between 1:30 pm - 5:00 pm.

- Older children scheduled for well visits that are not behind on their vaccines may be asked to reschedule to a later date.
- Other non-urgent appointments may be asked to be rescheduled to a later date (behavioral or school problems, ADHD medication checks, etc.)
- If you or your child is ill, or has been exposed to someone with coronavirus (COVID-19) or recently traveled to a high-risk area, your child’s well visit appointment will be rescheduled to an afternoon “sick” time or another day.

Please limit the number of people that come with your child to the appointment to only one parent. If that’s just not possible (we know it’s hard with school being out) – everyone must be healthy (no cough, congestion, recent fevers or at-risk travel.) If you or a child has illness symptoms during “well” visit times, we ask that you wait in your car and call the office before entering.

Please note, that we are NOT doing COVID-19 testing in our office – we do not have sufficient protective gear or location for our staff to do this. When outside testing becomes available (i.e. drive-thru testing sites), we will post that information for those who choose to get the testing done.
