Every September we choose a cause and give back. Honestly, this year, September came and went and that did not happen. I know God knows far more than I. We didn’t have a cause or organization lined up and it’s been heavy in my heart. I posted a little shout out own journey earlier this week. I know that food insecurity is on SO many minds right now and is the reality for many. I now pause, in gratitude, that we waited…because this is the reality of many of our neighbors and we are HONORED to support in the month of November by donating 10% of our online and market sales to help those directly in our community. Shop online or our MANY November markets knowing that you are also helping your neighbor!

⭐️ Meet 2017 Elderberry Lady! ⭐️
Some of you knew me at this time, others of you have joined along the way. But, I want to introduce you to 2017 me. Behind this beautiful family photo is an incredible amount of pain. Our world fell apart. We lost our business, we lost everything and in the middle of it all, my mother in law suddenly passed. We lived in survival to protect our marriage and our family. What even our CLOSEST friends never knew of that we collected WIC during that short time. To be honest. I drove to other cities to shop so I wouldn’t run into anyone I knew. It was a small bridge for us as we worked to put our lives back together.

❤️❤️ Elderberry Lady was born out of this season. Totally by accident by the grace of God. YOU all played a role in lifting my family out of a very dark season!

⭐️⭐️J&B Farms is an amazing family where we sell products in Mesa. Their hearts are gold! They are collecting food for those in need. We will be donating and if you are looking for a place to give and support or you are in need, please check them out.

🥰 God brought beauty from our ashes. I get to share Jesus through our business and I’ve been honored to walk through storms with some of my friends with a deep level of empathy and understanding!

I’m brought to tears and wish I could go back and hug that younger version of me. Tell her it’s all going to be ok and tell her what a rockstar she was!

THANK YOU
I first want to THANK YOU all for supporting us and all the small businesses at today at our new location. Change is hard and I have an incredible amount of gratitude today! As I scrolled social media today, I was filled with gratitude and frustrated by some of the comments. I wanted to share my thoughts:
❤️ We and all the small businesses are so grateful you continue to come see us!!
❤️ Traffic was a bit crazy…but what does that mean? LOTS of people wanted to support all of us! Note: there are several entrances, if you had an issue today…use another one!
❤️ has curated a very diverse group of vendors! You will always find high quality vendors and something that meets your needs! Too big? Look at the vendor list and make a plan!
❤️ No pups? I know it’s a bummer. This is a Chandler Gilbert Community College rule. Please don’t take your disappointment out on local small businesses!
❤️ Please note that this move was not voluntary! So those angry keyboard warriors, please do your homework and read a few posts. The market and vendors didn’t ask for a move but are committed to making it amazing!
While I understand the sentiment to share frustration over unmet expectations or traffic issues…please know that this is our livelihood. Constructive feedback is always welcome, but that’s not what I’m seeing online. We love to serve you and bring you the best quality products. We are honored and humbled so many of you chose to see us today and pray you continue to support us each week.

🎓Dr. Elderberry Lady🎓

Today I successfully defended my dissertation “Mental Health Implications of Twice-Exceptional Students with Autism.” This has been an incredibly fulfilling journey both personally and professionally! I poured my heart and soul into this over the past few years. I’m so grateful for my family, friends, colleagues and students who have believed in me far more than I’ve ever believed in myself! I look forward to publishing and presenting at conferences to bring awareness to this unique population of students!

I haven’t shared my thoughts yet about the Gilbert Farmers Markey move. First, we are VERY excited to move with them to Chandler Gilbert Community College starting on 10/4! While we are sad to move from downtown, watching the sun rise each Saturday over the water tower, change is not bad. It can be scary, but not bad! I’ve been at for 5 years! They welcomed me back in 2020 and the Gilbert customers are the best. We are incredibly grateful for the market and YOU who came to see us and support us week after week. We pray that you will drive the couple miles down the road (with better parking) and see us and continue to support small. We are very grateful for everyone who has chosen to support us over the years!

⭐️Fear ⭐️
Fear is an incredibly powerful emotion! You may have not been alive or you may remember 9/11 vividly. 24 years ago a fear was evoked into all of us. We now fear going to work, flying, sending our kids to school, going to church, riding public transit and more. 2 Timothy 1:7 says “For God gave us a spirit not of fear but of power and love and self-control.” Fear is meant to control and God sets us free.

Today, I encourage you not to fear, but rather remember. Remember those who lost their lives. As we look around at our fallen world, I pray that you have a spirit of love and boldness in all that you do!

🎉 This is 40!!! 🎉
My 30s were a transformative decade. All the highs and all the lows! I feel strong and confident as I turn 40 today.

My 30s brought joy and pain:
❤️ We moved to AZ and started over. I have met new friends and have let go of friendships in this decade. I learned that that is ok!
❤️ I was a stay at home mom, worked part time and full time
❤️ We had our second child and watched our children grow up! I learned how to be a mom!
❤️ We survived a pandemic as parents!
❤️ We survived layoffs and job transitions
❤️ We lost EVERYTHING when we lost a business, but we also rebuilt our life stronger and better!
❤️ I leaned self care by dining into church groups, seeking therapy and investing in my health.
❤️ I accidentally started a successful business
❤️ We bought a house!
❤️ We said goodbye to our pre-children dogs and welcomed our family pups into our lives
⭐️ ⭐️ The highs and lows shaped me into the woman I am today. The lowest of lows gave me compassion and empathy that I could never have without hitting that rock bottom. The highs and lows showed me the God is with me in each valley and mountain.

Looking forward this year:
❤️ Graduating with my Doctorate in December 👩‍🎓
❤️ Having a teenager in May 😬
❤️ Finishing our pool 🏊
