Did you know? 🦷
Back in 1790, innovation in dentistry took a major leap forward. A pioneering dentist by the name of John Greenwood (who was also the dentist of a very famous American president) created the first foot-powered dental drill by modifying a spinning wheel introducing what became known as the early “dental engine.” This clever design used a foot treadle to power the drill, making it faster and more effective at removing tooth decay than ever before. From human-powered tools to today’s advanced technology, dentistry has always been driven by ingenuity and a commitment to better patient care. At Copper Basin, we proud to carry that spirit of innovation forward every day.

The winner of last Friday's Bite Force Friday is the hippopotamus! Although the gorilla can generate a bite with a staggering 1,300 pounds per square inch, it is still no match for the hippo. Their powerful and menacing jaws can deliver a bite force of 1,800 PSI, which is enough to crush through bones or bite through a whole watermelon. Although hippos are mainly herbivorous, they still have a strong enough bite force to consume carcasses during times of stress or food scarcity, if necessary. Stay tuned for more fun facts this Bite Force Friday!
