She is certified in Foot Zone Therapy (similar to Reflexology). She is also certified in Investigating Health™ with additional training in multiple other energy clearing modalities and brain rewiring techniques. She loves teaching active Meditation that bring balance to all FOUR bodies--Physical, Mental, Emotional & Spiritual. LoriKay has been happily married to Scott since 1989 & graduated from BYU with him. She was an elementary school teacher for two years before having her first son. She now has 4 wonderful children and 2 grandchildren. She always thought that she would go back to teaching when her youngest child was in school, but the severe health challenges she faced for 4 years after having her first 2 boys put her on a different path. LoriKay has had the opportunity to grow while learning natural things to help with her health challenges. Some of those learning opportunities have been from Hypoglycemia, Gestational Diabetes, Glucose Intolerance, Depression, Anxiety, Chronic Fatigue, Epstein Barr, Fibromyalgia, Food Sensitivities, Migraines & Severe Skin Rashes and an autoimmune disease called Hashimotos. She has also learned how to help her poor circulation & back pain. She is mainly symptom free from all of the above ailments (except for skin rashes) because of applying Lifestyle Choices, Nutrition & Energy Work. Taking Footzoning training in 2010 is where she started making leaps & bounds in her knowledge as well as ability to help others. She absolutely loves sharing what she has learned at a fraction of what it cost her to gain that knowledge. Learning new things brings her a lot of joy. Please know that LoriKay is not a doctor. She doesn't claim to diagnose, treat, cure, or prevent any disease.

The Work Is Gentle

If you recognized yourself in any of this…
The flooding.
The shutdown.
The reaction followed by shame.

I want you to know something important.

Your nervous system isn’t your enemy.

It’s been trying to protect you for a very long time.

The work now isn’t to fight your reactions.

It’s to help your body experience more safety.

And that happens slowly.
Through awareness.
Through compassion.
Through small moments where you remind your body:
“I’m safe now.”
You may be closer to healing these patterns than you realize.
💚
If this resonates, I’d love to hear from you.

What’s one small situation that recently triggered a big reaction or shutdown for you?

You’re not alone in this.

A Simple Nervous System Practice

When you feel that surge of overwhelm or freeze starting, try this:
1. Pause for a moment.
2. Place one hand on your chest.
3. Take a slow breath.
4. Feel the warmth of your hand.

Then say quietly to yourself:
“My nervous system is trying to protect me.”
“I am safe right now.”

You’re not pushing the feeling away.

You’re giving your body new information.

Over time, these small moments begin to teach the nervous system something powerful:

Unexpected doesn’t always mean danger.
And that’s how re-patterning begins.
One compassionate moment at a time.

Your Nervous System Has a Capacity

Think of your nervous system like a container.

It has a certain capacity for things like:
Safety
Joy
Connection
Ease
Receiving support

That capacity is shaped early in life by what felt normal in your environment.

If life felt unpredictable or stressful, your system may have learned to stay on high alert.

Even calm situations can feel unfamiliar.

And unfamiliar sometimes feels unsafe to the nervous system.

So when things start to feel overwhelming, the system may try to protect you by:
Shutting down.
Pulling back.
Freezing.

Not because something is wrong with you.

The Pain After the Reaction

For many people, the hardest part isn’t the reaction itself.

It’s what comes after.
You replay the moment.
You judge yourself.

You ask:
“Why can’t I handle things like a normal person?”

I know that spiral well.

But what if that reaction wasn’t a character flaw?

What if it was simply your nervous system trying to protect you with the tools it learned long ago?

When we stop shaming the response, something important happens.

The nervous system starts to relax.

Because safety isn’t just physical.

It’s also emotional.

And compassion is one of the fastest ways to create it.

Why “Just Calm Down” Doesn’t Work

Have you ever been told:
“Just calm down.”
“Don’t overreact.”
“It’s not a big deal.”

The truth is…
You can’t think your way out of a physiological response.

When your nervous system senses danger, your body reacts first.

Your heart rate changes.
Your breathing shifts.
Your muscles tighten or go numb.

This is biology.

Which is why logic alone doesn’t fix it.

What helps instead is helping your body feel safe again.

Simple things like:
• Feeling your feet on the ground
• Placing a hand on your chest
• Slowing your breath
• Reminding your body you are safe now

These small signals tell your nervous system:
“The danger has passed.”
And that’s where the shift begins

When Your Reaction Feels Too Big

There’s a specific kind of reaction that can feel completely out of proportion.

Something small shifts…

A plan changes.
Someone is late.
The Wi-Fi goes out at the worst possible moment.

And suddenly your whole body floods.

Sometimes it looks like anger.

But sometimes it looks like something else…

You go quiet.
You shut down.
You can’t think clearly.
You feel frozen.

Then comes the second wave.

The shame.

“Why did I react like that?”

Before I understood the nervous system, I thought something was wrong with me.

But what I learned is this:

Your body isn’t overreacting.

Your nervous system is trying to protect you.

For many of us, “unexpected” got wired as danger a long time ago.

So when something shifts suddenly, your system goes into survival.

Fight.
Flight.
Or freeze.

And freeze is more common than people realize.

You’re not broken.

Your body is responding the way it learned to.

And that can change.

With compassion.
With awareness.
And with small moments of safety.

💚

Day 2 – The Freeze Response Most People Miss

Most people understand fight or flight.

But freeze is the one many people don’t recognize.

Freeze can look like:

• Your mind going blank
• Not knowing what to say
• Feeling stuck or numb
• Wanting to disappear from the situation
• Shutting down emotionally
• Feeling overwhelmed but unable to act

Your body is trying to protect you by pausing everything.

It’s like the nervous system saying:

“Hold still. Maybe the danger will pass.”

The problem is that many of us learned this pattern early in life when things felt unpredictable.

So even small situations can trigger the same response.

The important thing to know is this:

Freeze is not weakness.

It’s a survival strategy your nervous system learned.

And survival strategies can be gently updated.

Day 3 – Why “Just Calm Down” Doesn’t Work

Have you ever been told:

“Just calm down.”
“Don’t overreact.”
“It’s not a big deal.”

The truth is…

You can’t think your way out of a physiological response.

Day 4 – The Pain After the Reaction

For many people, the hardest part isn’t the reaction itself.

It’s what comes after.

You replay the moment.

You judge yourself.

You ask:

“Why can’t I handle things like a normal person?”

Day 5 – Your Nervous System Has a Capacity

Think of your nervous system like a container.

It has a certain capacity for things like:

That capacity is shaped early in life by what felt normal in your environment.

If life felt unpredictable or stressful, your system may have learned to stay on high alert.

And unfamiliar sometimes feels unsafe to the nervous system.

So when things start to feel overwhelming, the system may try to protect you by:

Shutting down.
Pulling back.
Freezing.

Not because something is wrong with you.

But because your body is trying to return to what once felt familiar.

The beautiful part?

Capacity can expand.

Slowly.

Gently.

With repeated experiences of safety.

Day 6 – A Simple Nervous System Practice

When you feel that surge of overwhelm or freeze starting, try this:

Pause for a moment.

Place one hand on your chest.

Take a slow breath.

Feel the warmth of your hand.

Then say quietly to yourself:

I recognize that I have been in a "Freeze State"

What does that mean?

I am having a tremendously hard time doing certain tasks that I really want to get done, but just seem not to be able to do them!

I have been a bit overwhelmed.

I think I am taking on energy from others.

I am not doing my meditation practices as I serve my family more than normal.

I added over 40 hours of service this past week- which is what I want to do.

It is my priority, but I come back to my own home and am not accomplishing what I hope to do!

My mind will not engage and I go to the TV instead.

Very frustrating!
