Where we take off🚀 is not where we land.

This is something I heard early in my career by a mentor of mine and I never forgot it!

Today (everyday) marks a starting line, not a finish line🏁. The excitement of beginning helps us cast a bold vision for the future and lean into a growth mindset📈, learning, evolving, and moving our personal and professional goals forward one day at a time. Every day is a step👣 toward who we’re becoming.

Yet there’s a truth we must also honor: growth isn’t finished, and progress isn’t always linear.

The journey will include challenges😅, distractions, and moments that test our focus🤩. The upside? Embracing perspectives outside our own helps us craft solutions, shift responsibility back to ourselves, and turn imperfect today into powerful tomorrow. 💪🏻 When we reflect on what “this” is trying to teach us, we stay 🧐, stay resilient🏃🏽‍♀️, and keep moving toward our destination🎯.

1️⃣ The Conviction Apology (Owning Wrongdoing)
This is when you recognize you did something wrong, without being prompted.
It comes from:
• 🪞 Self-awareness
• 💪 Accountability
• ❤️ Internal conviction
• 🔧 A desire to repair
You’re not just soothing feelings — you’re owning behavior.
And that requires humility. 🙏

2️⃣ The Empathy Response (Acknowledging Hurt)
This happens when someone says: “You hurt me.”
You may not have intended harm. You may not even agree with their interpretation.
But you care about the relationship. 🤝
Notice:
You are acknowledging their pain, not confessing malicious intent.
Good people rarely intend to hurt others. But people still get hurt.
Impact ≠ Intent.

🚫 What It Is NOT
“I’m sorry you felt that way.”

That statement:
• 🔄 Shifts responsibility
• 🧊 Minimizes their experience
• 🛡 Protects ego over connection

When someone says, “You hurt me,” they’re being vulnerable.
Very few people have the courage to say that. Even fewer respond well to hearing it.

🧭 The Character Test
When someone tells you they’re hurt:
• Do you defend?
• Do you minimize?
• Do you get offended?
• Or do you lean in? 👂

A person who cares says:
“Man, I’m sorry I hurt you.”

That doesn’t mean:
• You’re evil
• You intended harm
• You’re fully at fault
It means you value the person more than your pride.
🔁 Responsibility Goes Both Ways

If you’re hurt, communicate it. People aren’t mind readers. 🧠 And when someone tells you they’re hurt, your response will reveal more about your character than your explanation ever could.

Because at the end of the day:
Mature people protect relationships. Immature people protect their ego.

Leadership tip: How to have tough conversations
Ask ❓the hard questions. Set your intention and ask for open and honest feedback. 😇 Prepare them and get right to the point⏰. Speak clearly, directly, and sincerely🤗. Listen 👂 to understand, not to respond. Some people will naturally withdraw when accountability appears, remember, that’s their journey 🗺️ not yours. You do not own that.
Do your best, speak from the ❤️, stay consistent, and lead with kindness (not just “nice”).

✨Loyalty vs. fairness: two words, one line that can make or break a culture.‼️

✨Loyalty often feels personal like backing a friend, sometimes with favorable exceptions.

✨Fairness is principled. It’s the same rules, the same consequences, across the board. The difference isn’t popularity; it’s trust. ✅A loyal friend may protect you from consequences, but a good leader will hold you to the same standard as everyone else.

✨One of the quickest ways to toxic culture is inconsistency. Be the leader who sets the standard and keeps it.

✨To my team I say: decisions may land in or out of your favor, but they’ll be consistent and fair. 🙌What I do for you; I’ll do for others. That’s not just leadership—that’s character. Lead with fairness. Lead with courage.

What an amazing weekend to kick off 2026 with our annual leadership summit! A heartfelt thank you to our regional sales leaders for organizing a week that will be unforgettable. you’ve been more to me than I could put into words, always providing calm during the storms and remaining steady through it all, thank you! Ryan, you have grown so much personally and professionally and often times the student becomes the teacher, thank you for all of this and more to come!
