Lighthouse Psychiatry

Lighthouse Psychiatry We offer personalized brain care, mental health care, and trauma care

In addition to providing mental and behavioral health care at our facility, we are a big proponent of mental health education and resource to fight against the stigma of mental illness. We accomplish this through our community partnership with local nonprofits, agencies, hospitals, and government.

Andrew recently shared key insights during a mental health presentation focused on attunement and the role of emotions in everyday life. He explored how understanding and practicing attunement, both to ourselves and our environment, helps us better process, express, and channel our emotions in healthy ways. Just like electricity powers a light bulb, emotions power connection and growth when understood and used intentionally.

What inspired this journey into mental health was a desire to guide families and children, just as support was once given growing up. Helping kids express themselves, supporting adults through difficult seasons, and creating a space where healing can happen is more than a career, it’s a true passion.

It’s completely normal to feel hesitant about starting medication. With so much information online, concerns about side effects are common. The approach? Validate those feelings, keep open communication, and work closely together. Every person responds differently, and your concerns deserve to be heard and addressed.

One recent success story involved someone who came in feeling lost, stuck, and struggling with low self-esteem, living more for others than for themselves. Over time, confidence grew. Self-worth strengthened. Identity became clearer.

They made bold changes, a new job, a new home, a new direction. Watching someone go from feeling worthless to living intentionally is the kind of transformation that defines success.

One of the most common questions: If I start medication, will I be on it forever?

Not necessarily. In outpatient care, treatment is regularly reevaluated. Medications can be used strategically for anxiety, focus, or mood—and many people, once stable for 6–12 months, may reduce or discontinue under medical guidance. The goal is personalized care, not permanence.

Andrew often works with clients who’ve seen multiple therapists before. The biggest challenges? Past negative experiences, defense mechanisms shaped by old wounds, and—at the core—self-worth. Therapy can feel uncomfortable, especially when feedback touches unresolved pain. His advice: be open to the discomfort and, most importantly, be kind to yourself. Healing often begins with self-compassion.

With bullying on the rise among adolescents, the impact on self-esteem and su***de risk is real. Support starts with safety, addressing what’s happening at school or home, but it also means rebuilding a young person’s sense of self-worth. What a bully says does not define who they are. Helping teens rediscover confidence and self-love is a powerful step toward healing.

One unforgettable moment in mental health care came early on with TMS treatment. Watching a patient go from struggling to smiling, laughing, and even singing in the car by week four was powerful. Experiences like that shift perspectives—and highlight how innovative treatments can truly change lives. The future of mental health is evolving, and the possibilities are inspiring

One of the most meaningful parts of therapy is helping people rediscover the strengths they didn’t even realize they had. Sometimes those inner resources are simply forgotten not gone. Healing often begins by bringing those hidden pieces back to the table and building from what’s already within you.

Couples therapy can be especially challenging when one partner is all in and the other has one foot out the door. In those moments, the focus becomes openness, alignment, and revisiting why they chose each other in the first place. Sometimes healing is possible. Sometimes clarity is the goal. Either way, the work begins with honest conversation 🤍
