We’re proud to share that Rebekah Children’s Services was awarded an AWS Grant that helped us provide 14 summer enrichment camps for low-income children in Gilroy. Thanks to this support, 182 youth ages 6–18 enjoyed safe, fun, and meaningful activities at no cost.
Campers took part in soccer, yoga, arts and crafts, culinary classes, hikes, and visits to local attractions like Gilroy Gardens, the Monterey Bay Aquarium, and the Santa Cruz Boardwalk—many experiencing “firsts” like petting a dog or riding a roller coaster. With support from RCS therapists, children also built social-emotional skills such as communication, teamwork, and self-regulation. 96% said they made new friends and felt connected.
Caregivers expressed deep gratitude, especially as summer can be challenging for families without access to childcare, structured activities, or daily meals. The grant also helped 42 caregivers connect with additional RCS services, from parent workshops to food and diaper distributions.
With this grant, hundreds of children and families were given a summer filled with opportunity, growth, and connection—experiences that will continue to support their well-being long after the season ends.
Thank you, AWS, for empowering our youth and strengthening our community!
