April is Head and Neck Cancer Awareness Month 🧬

For people with Fanconi anemia, head and neck cancer is one of the most serious health risks faced, often developing at much younger ages than in the general population.

Because of this community, progress is happening:

• Research to better understand why these cancers develop
• Early detection initiatives to identify cancer sooner
• Education for dentists and clinicians
• Resources for individuals and families with FA

This time we rescheduled for May hoping with him being out of school he won’t be sick. This is our 3rd time rescheduling. Hopefully we will be able to make it next time. All and all both kids are back to being healthy this week and doing good nowšŸ’™šŸ’™

Case got up this morning not feeling great. Surgery is being rescheduled since he has a cough and congestion. Miss Nova has flu b and we are hoping this isn’t the start of him having it. So far he’s tested negative.

Getting stuff packed up for Bub’s surgery tomorrow. It’s always nerve wracking when we are doing something like this. Prayers everything goes great. We will be staying overnight in Cincinnati and should be back home some time Wednesday.

We went ahead and rescheduled Case’s surgery next week for next month. We don’t want to risk it with the weather they are calling for. It’s now scheduled for February 24th🩵🩵

Update on Miss Nova, her thyroid level was still too high. We are going to try out a thyroid med and recheck in 4-6 weeks. They are hopeful that it will solve some of her other issues as well. Thyroid problems are seen a lot in FA patients, so hopefully we are on the right path now🩵🩵

Nova is heading up to Cincinnati for appointments tomorrow. They are rechecking her thyroid. Hopefully it has came down even more than last time. We will update tomorrow🩵🩵

Can anyone tell me by chance how the roads are going up to Cincinnati?? We live in south central Kentucky.

Case was approved for surgery and got his last 4 shots until he can get his live vaccines. He’s bruised and not happy but I’m so glad we are done with that for a minute🩵🩵
