We are pleased to announce that Dr. Matthew Rutter has joined the T.J. Health Urology team, working alongside Dr. Mitchell Wiatrak and Katlin Spillman, APRN.

Dr. Rutter earned his Bachelor of Arts in Biology at Capital University and his Doctor of Medicine at the Medical College of Ohio. He completed his Urology Residency at the University of Oklahoma.

As the first urologist to perform robotic surgery in South Central Kentucky, Dr. Rutter continues to be a leader in the field. When asked what he enjoys most about practicing medicine, he said, “I mostly enjoy the outcomes of repairing or curing a patient’s problem surgically, and my expertise is in urologic cancer. I am happiest in the operating room - this is where I have the least stress and perform the best.”

Dr. Rutter was drawn to T.J. Regional Health due to the potential to continue his career with the high quality of technology that is necessary for strong patient outcomes. He is excited to use the organization’s new world-class Da Vinci 5 surgical robot. He added, “A large number of my patients are from the surrounding region so it will be convenient for them to see me at the Pavilion.”

Dr. Rutter and his wife, Natalie, have been married for 30 years, and they have two children. Ethan is a legislative aide for a senator in Washington, DC, and Emma is a musical theater major at Western Kentucky University. Outside of work, Dr. Rutter enjoys gardening, working on classic cars, and wood working.

Dr. Rutter is now seeing patients in the Urology Clinic at the T.J. Health Pavilion. Please call 270.659.5965 to schedule an appointment with him. Join us in welcoming Dr. Matthew Rutter to the T.J. family!
