Excerpt translated from Polish- our family’s legacy book, On Two Fronts, written by my grandfather, Jerzy Jaxa-Maderski:
“During the 45 year rule of the communist reaction in the country, we had to remain silent, we had no chance to correct frequent, aggressive speeches on the radio, articles in the press, false descriptions in books. Every word spoken in defense of the NSZ (Polish Underground Army) was punishable by imprisonment and even the death penalty. We, and especially the Holy Cross Mountains Brigade, were treated as fascists collaborating with the Germans, as enemies of the so-called ‘people’s democracy’ prevailing in Poland. The communist authorities in the country, unable to take revenge on the Brigade, especially on its senior officers, took revenge on every member of the Brigade who fell into their hands. These lies, the long-term campaign of slandering our organization, had a considerable impact on the attitude of many people towards us. If we were spat on for many years, something of it remained in the consciousness of a part of society. In the meantime, a myth was being created that only the Home Army fought as an antidote to the propaganda of the People’s Army. There was no place for us in this propaganda fight, and therefore, in the public perception, the image of the NSZ is not complete, and what is worse- distorted and we have a lot of work ahead of us to create a true image. Unfortunately, time has worked inexorably against us. Many historical texts have been written in which we are either not spoken of or spoken of badly. And now, after so many years, how to fight these falsehoods?”

After a time to gather what I needed to learn, I have a first draft rough edit of Part 1 of my first book, to be titled: JAXA
The story will be historical fiction with dramatic effect for all certain dialogue that cannot be perfectly recreated. The effect it will have, I hope, is to honor not only my grandfather’s legacy, but all the forgotten Polish heroes of WW2 and all those who fought for the freedoms we have today, against the worst communist and fascist regimes in history. Their story must be told, so that the next generation may know it.

Thoughts on Strength Training

✅ The best performance enhancer to ever exist is a no brainer. It’s strength training.

If the world lost all its societal advancements on all things recovery and rehab and came down to one protocol it would be to train strength. Grow muscle. Get strong. Be hard to kill.

✅ Why is this optimal? It’s not just about being bigger, even though that can be helpful in many ways. Building your body with a better physical frame creates a better system of movement.

Better movement creates a better neurological connection from your brain/spinal cord to your muscles offering a feedback loop to refine positions, posture, and proprioception.

Therefore, better muscle health leads to better joint health which leads to better nervous system health which continue to impact each other continually. The better the mind-muscle connection you have, the better you’ll be at reducing the risk of injury.

✅ Longevity health or long-term high performance of an individual can assist with a muscular system being unhindered by any insult to injury, allowing the body to go longer doing its natural functions without breakdown. A stronger muscular system, when not pushed past any breakdown, can help avoid chronic injury build-up or help delay age-related sarcopenia as it takes effect (natural muscle loss with age).

✅ Understanding the importance your physical health plays is so commonly understated by health groups that assume strength gains are only vain efforts to look better. This could not be further from the truth.

Thoughts on Greatness
✅ For any of us to be remembered… and I mean recognized in any capacity for who we really were or what we stood for; an aspiration for greatness is all we need to get there.
✅ To get to that… I learned the stories we often attach ourselves to follow the classical hero’s journey where we see someone overcome all odds to get to their goal. They find extraordinary effort from within. It’s always within them.
✅ So where we often go wrong, I think, is that we fail by believing our efforts have to be in the same vein of perfection for any chance to succeed. We put our goal so high that we sometimes push it higher and higher as we get closer and closer, leading to an often devastating and self-defeating scenario.
✅ We truly can be our own worse enemies. When our inner voice speaks too harshly to ourselves, when we strive for the unrealistic or idealized win, or when we can’t see or stop our own faults or failures to learn from them; we STOP greatness. We need our full efforts to go towards the things that serve us.
✅ It’s time to be true to our strengths, even stronger to our weaknesses, honest and humble with our attitudes through it all, and willing to NOT do this hero’s journey you’re on ALONE.

✅ Your difference matters and can inspire greatness big and small just like all those before that have inspired you.

🚨Real-time MRI captured joint “cracking”.

These images follow the progression of a metacarpalphalangeal (knuckle) joint undergoing a traction release.

Scroll through to observe that as the traction occurs, a high signal intensity is noted prior to the rapid joint separation and cavity spacing forming.

Joint cavitation or sound you hear is often during that high signal phase where byproducts of the synovial fluid (including carbon dioxide, nitrogen, and oxygen) build to form a gas bubble that spontaneously releases when joint pressure rapidly drops.

It was extremely hard to watch this happen last night:

Decorticate posturing is a sign of severe brain trauma. The body goes rigid, legs straighten, and arms fold across the chest like a mummy.

Tua Tagovailoa had a probable head injury with true concussion signs last week against the Bills. My personal opinion was that he shouldn’t have played that soon. To have a second impact against the Bengals (not a full week later) can be devastating to the athlete’s health and potentially life-threatening as we saw.

We must do better for any athletes playing football and improve protocols so that this type of injury cannot happen.

✅Huge thank you to absolutely everyone we met running the show especially Roger Parent and his awesome staff, this weekend was maxed out to the limit! Biggest VBall in NE

✅To every single athlete we met- we were so thrilled to meet you and hope we helped alleviate any pain and helped you do what you do best- set, spike, and score.

Here’s some stats I got:
🏐We recorded upward than 450 patient visits, and developed a fan club- thanks
🏐More than 200 visits had combo of Chiro + Massage
🏐Less than 5 severe injuries
🏐With +1,300 athletes
🏐Just me and a small team of LMTs and an awesome ATC
🏐😧 wow incredible 😎🏐

Needless to say, we had the time of our lives serving you guys and we hope you had the best weekend as well!

🏋🏼‍♂️Treat and Train Series - Spring 2021

Thank you .the.grain.fitness and everyone who came out!

RECAP:

1. We discussed the importance of sleep for workout optimization
2. We discussed neck strengthening and healthy techniques for it to help counter text-neck structural issues
3. We did the Treat and Train Method for a right shoulder impingement with end result of full range of motion and less pinching symptoms
4. We did the Treat and Train Method on L hip extension weakness into posterior chain activation with the end result of improved muscle memory and hip extension firing pattern
5. We finished with ankle rehab for previous torn Achilles with end result of enhanced dorsiflexion with take home exercises demonstrated and reviewed

Our discussions and demonstrations are useful to break down the barriers of Health and Fitness with a mix of backgrounds of Chiropractic, Physical Therapy and Personal Training.

Great job everyone!
