Some of these poses/transitions I thought I would never be able to do and some I thought I knew how to do *perfectly* …spoiler alert: there is no such thing as perfect in yoga or in life.

Yoga has kept me humble enough to expand my knowledge on “basic” poses and has also taught me to be inspired by the people around me and try something I didn’t think I would be able to do.

There is a huge intersection between the style of yoga I teach and practice and the way I coach clients. Both my yoga teaching and life coach certifications come from LivFree Yoga School both operate within the LivFree® brand created by Annie Q Simard.

As a life coach and yoga teacher with this background, my goal is to help you see your greatest potential, even if (especially if) it’s something you never thought you could do. I also hope to strengthen what you already know about yourself so you can stand firmly in your power.

If you are interested in blending life coaching and yoga, I have special pricing for the combo, DM me for details🤸🏼‍♀️

When I was 18 I sort of new what love was, I sort of new what friendship was, I sort of knew who I was...but I remember feeling so lost. I thought I had it all figured out, but I didn’t.

•••

Here’s the truth: you aren’t supposed to have it figured out when you’re 18. You are supposed to be FIGURING it out: Trying. Failing. Feeling. Risk taking. Saying yes. Saying no. Traveling. Falling in love. Getting your heart broken. Feeling betrayed. Making new friends. Keeping in touch with old ones. The list goes on. None of those are “knowing exactly what you want to do and who you want to be for the rest of your life” remember that.

•••

This friend right here, my KG, was always there for me through the mess of figuring it out—she’s been my best friend since kindergarten. The friend who remained after the bad falling outs in middle school, high school, college, and in my twenties. She’s been my constant. Now at 27, I realize how lucky I am to have a friend who has known me since I was 5. She keeps me grounded.

Some people don’t know that I am the youngest of 4 kids, and it’s my (over) protective older brother, Billy’s birthday today! Billy is a second grade teacher and he’s damn good at it, he’s the kind of teacher those kids will always remember. When you hear him talk about his classroom, it’s clear those kids are loved and are learning a lot from him. Happy birthday Beeeeee!

It’s my sisters birthday! Siobhan is 30 years old today and this woman has been truly on the front lines working the covid unit in multiple hospitals since last summer. She is the goofiest, kindest, weirdest, smartest, person I know. If you know her, you love her. She is my older sister but I am extremely protective of her. I’m so proud to have her to look up to ❤️ she is definitely the most patient of the 4 of us, it’s one of the reasons she’s such a great nurse ❤️

I will never forget the first time I heard this quote. I was in the thick of a bad friend break up, was totally gaslighted and told I was crazy for setting boundaries I needed to feel safe. One day, I was listening to an Off the Vine Podcast interview with Vienna Pharaon and I’ll never forget Kaitlyn Bristowe asking her to say this quote twice because it’s so good and so TRUE.

I wrote a blog about gaslighting, hopefully you will find it helpful. It was the hardest blog for me to write so far. I started it last week and it’s finally up! Read here: https://danawilcox.com/blog/gaslighting 🤍

Happy Monday ☀️ here are 3 things I am grateful for today:
1. My friendships
2. Cali (my moms pup)
3. My healthy & strong body

Write down 3 things you are grateful for right now, they can be big or small. Do it in your phone notes, comment them here, text them to someone, or even just think them to yourself.

We spend a LOT of time at our jobs— it shouldn’t be rare to be passionate about them. Are you passionate about what you do? I have found my passion, if you’re interested in how I did it, read on 👇🏼

When offered me a job to teach yoga, it was an immediate, loud, cheery, YES. It was 2 classes a week. I had just finished my 200hr Yoga Teacher Training with them and I was PUMPED to teach more. I loved my YTT with them and I worked really hard, I committed to the process, I practiced teaching as much as possible, always asked for feedback, and did my best to apply it. Teaching yoga was and still is my passion, I could feel it before I even started YTT— I knew I needed to do everything in my power to make it happen.

When I started teaching I made a vow to myself that I would never let my day job interfere with my passion. When another teacher asked me to sub a class, I would try to switch shifts at work so I could teach. I stuck to my vow.

Last spring I was talking to about how I really wanted to be able to make a career out of yoga, her response was, “would you be interested in observing the next YTT?” Again, my response was a big YES. I was able to watch my mentors as they mentored new yoga teachers and apply that feedback to my own teaching. I saw yoga from a new lens and loved it.

Now, I teach 7 classes a week and am part of the team for the 200hr Yoga Teacher Training at . I am confident in my ability as a yoga teacher and I am humbled by how much I still can learn. I got to this point by continuing the work I did in my YTT—I listen to my mentors, I always ask for feedback when they take my class, I watch them as they mentor others, I soak up as much as I can when I take their classes. It is not yet a full time job for me, but I get to spend a good chunk of my time doing something I love and I can’t wait to do more of it.

So, if you’ve found your passion, do everything you can to work at it. Learn as much as you can about it. Lean into it. You deserve to spend your time doing something you love.

Work-life balance: going to your favorite specialty coffee shop to get your favorite drink and work from there ☕️ ❤️

I worked in the specialty coffee industry for 12 years, I can spot a good cafe when I see one and honestly is top notch. Today I was craving something sweet and got an iced ginger latte (they make their own ginger syrup it’s amazing) but my usual is a regular iced latte and a macaroon 😍 you MUST try their macaroons, trust me.
