Many of us in the U.S. have had a long, cold, icy winter that just doesn't seem to let up. 🥶 Have you ever had a loved one fall because of ice?

During a big snowstorm, my grandfather was out shoveling the driveway when he slipped and took a nasty fall. Luckily my grandmother saw it happen and was able to call for help quickly. He fractured his hip and is in the long process of recovery, but they expect he will be able to walk again soon. My grandmother is an incredible caregiver. She's made the house safer for both of them, and bought them both spikes for their shoes in case they ever need to go out in bad conditions.

While falls can be scary stuff, there are ways to prevent them, even as your loved one’s abilities and care needs change: https://www.carescout.com/resources/understanding-falls-why-they-happen-and-how-to-prevent-them

One of the most important conversations we can have with our families is about long-term care. 🏠❤️

As the population of aging Americans grows faster than ever, understanding the cost of long-term care is more important than today's budget—it’s about tomorrow's peace of mind. Today, CareScout released the results of the 2025 Cost of Care Survey. It’s one of the most comprehensive tools out there to help you plan for and calculate costs across the U.S.

Don't wait for a crisis to start the conversation. Check out the latest data to help your family plan ahead: https://www.carescout.com/cost-of-care

“There are all kinds of love in this world, but never the same love twice.” - F. Scott Fitzgerald

Love endures, but it also evolves over time. Between parents and children, spouses, or siblings, the way we love and care for each other is different across each phase of life. At CareScout, our mission is to provide innovative, person‑centered care solutions so older adults and their families can experience a more dignified, fulfilling aging journey, with evolving love and care at the center. Welcome to aging with confidence. 💜

We may not be able to stop ourselves from aging, but we can control how we think about it. When Judy Benjamin walked across America at 80 years old, she relied on a positive attitude to remind herself of what she could do, rather than fixating on what she couldn't. Hear more about Judy's walk and what she plans to do next on the latest episode of There for Care.

02/21/2026

When she was 67, Judy Benjamin was diagnosed with Alzheimer's after watching her mother struggle with the disease for 20 years. At first, she felt lost and defeated. But after major changes to her diet, exercise, and lifestyle, Judy began to realize her symptoms were improving. It's time to rethink how we view aging. What do you LOVE about life as an older adult?

02/18/2026

Last year, at age 80, Dr. Judy A. Benjamin embarked on a 2,790-mile journey from San Diego, CA to St. Augustine, FL, with just her own two feet. Her mission: to show that aging doesn't mean you have to stop doing the things you love. In this episode of There for Care, host Amy Rein sits down with Judy to hear about her experiences walking across America, her personal battle with Alzheimer's disease, and how changing her lifestyle and mindset transformed her aging experience for the better.
