This is a problem we are seeing quite frequently among our patients. If you are experiencing problems with dry, irritated eyes, we are here to help!

Are you experiencing mask-related dry eye (MADE)? Here are a few remedies:
• Ensure your mask fits well with a pliable nose wire to fit the mask shape and prevent air from being directed toward your eyes
• Take frequent breaks on digital devices and employ the 20-20-20 rule (every 20 minutes spent looking at a screen, look at something that is 20 feet away for a total of 20 seconds)
• Take breaks every few hours for mask removal
• Apply lubricant eye drops

Trying to do our part in protecting our patients and the public from substandard, non-medical grade contact lenses, especially when sold illegally without a valid prescription. The quality and fit of contacts vary so greatly so it is important that patients be fit by an Optometrist, trained in the proper use, and be monitored for any potential problems.

Called out in the AOA’s annual “31 in 31” campaign last fall, a company selling a brand of colored contact lenses online without federal clearance or a doctor’s prescription has announced it is voluntarily recalling hundreds of pairs of its product nationwide.
