Virginia is voting — and social workers know how important civic engagement is for the communities we serve.

Early voting is a simple way to make your voice heard while avoiding Election Day crowds and giving yourself time to make informed decisions. Every vote helps shape the policies and systems that impact our clients, our profession, and our communities.

We are heartbroken by the tragic loss of social worker Nic Crews, who died after being shot while at work at a Veterans Affairs clinic in Georgia last week

Nic’s life was defined by compassion, service, and a deep
commitment to those he supported—values that reflect the very heart of the social work profession.

As tributes continue to pour in, we honor his legacy and stand in solidarity with his loved ones, colleagues, and the entire social work community.

We also recognize the risks social workers can face and reaffirm the importance of ensuring safe environments for those who dedicate their lives to helping others.

A website launched in his memory confirms he is survived by his pregnant wife, Alyssa, and their three children.
