Rates for insurance plans sold on Maryland’s health exchange will drop for a third year in a row ... State and insurance officials announced that the rates will drop about 12% beginning in January, after dropping more than 10% this year and more than 13% in 2019.

During the coronavirus pandemic when more Marylanders are relying on Obamacare, premiums are set to drop again.

Announced today, United Healthcare is the latest carrier to waive the place-of-service requirement for Telehealth. If your doctor supports Telehealth (real time video/audio chats), then UHC will allow you to "see" that doctor while you are in your home. This extension applies to services provided through April 30th, 2020 ... with the potential to be extended.

Check with your insurance. If you need to see your doctor and don't want to leave your home, you have options!

Effective immediately, United Healthcare is expanding our policies around telehealth services for our Medicare Advantage, Medicaid, and Commercial membership, making it even easier for patients to connect with their health care provider.

We are following all of the latest updates to see how insurance carriers are updating policies to make telemedicine more accessible for patients and providers. Medicare has waived its restrictions that previously limited the patient's location to rural areas and designated facilities; providers can now deliver telemedicine to Medicare beneficiaries in their homes.

A spending bill to tackle the coronavirus includes a provision waiving Medicare's geographical restrictions on telehealth during a public health emergency.
