Meet Evan! With support from Bello Machre’s Ray of Hope program, Evan now has tools that help him communicate and engage more fully in his daily life. Through access to an iPad, speech therapy, and a communication app, Evan is building confidence and finding new ways to express himself every day. 📱✨

At Bello Machre, we believe everyone deserves the chance to grow and flourish. That’s why Ray of Hope provides up to $1,000 in funding each fiscal year to individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities — no DDA eligibility required.

🌟 December Volunteer of the Month: Penny Schimpler 🌟

We’re proud to recognize Mrs. Penny Schimpler as our December Volunteer of the Month! 💙 Penny has been consistently volunteering with Bello Machre since 2023, and she has been a valued part of our community since; funny, engaging, and always ready to lend a hand.

Jeremy Crowe, Development and Volunteer Manager, shared:
“Penny is a delight to be around and someone we truly appreciate. She’s funny, engaging, and incredibly helpful. We can always count on her to jump in, especially during our annual appeal season when she helps us mail out thousands of letters. December is the perfect time to recognize her.” ✉️💙

Penny shared that volunteering with Bello Machre is her way, as a parent, to give back and help ensure a strong future for loved ones. She values connecting with other parents and staff, learning from shared experiences, and being part of a supportive community. Her favorite part is the meaningful conversations that happen while volunteering and the connections that grow from them.

Families are encouraged to stay involved; visiting as often as they like, joining for appointments, and being part of everyday moments. Our caring team members help create a true family atmosphere with personalized care, shared meals, and activities that bring joy and connection.

🎬✨ Thriving Together: A Night to Remember ✨🎬

We’re still feeling the excitement from the sold-out premiere of Thriving Together: The Power of Inclusion! Held at the Carroll Arts Center this powerful documentary brought our community together to celebrate inclusion, opportunity, and the incredible people at the heart of this story. 💙

The film features Spike, whose creativity and determination remind us what’s possible when people are supported to pursue their passions and build meaningful connections. We were honored to be part of this project alongside our partners at The Arc Carroll County Maryland, Target Community & Educational Services, Inc., and Penn-Mar Human Services whose stories and missions help bring this message to life.

As Dr. Robert Ireland shared, this project is a reminder of “the incredible things that can happen when people are given the right support and the chance to be seen for who they really are.” We’re incredibly proud to be part of this inspiring collaboration.
