Meet Beth Nugent, another one of our amazing members and volunteers! Beth began a journey into medicine at age 18. She became an Emergency Medical Technician in N.Y. City, and fell in love with the idea of helping people heal from trauma. After many years of working in the western medical field, she sought a more integrative approach to healing. Acupuncture was a doorway to that approach. Beth is a graduate of New York College of Health Professions, receiving a Master’s degree in Oriental Medicine and recently completed the doctoral program at Pacific College of Oriental Medicine.
When asked what her most impactful moment working with AWB has been, she said this: “I have been on many trips with AWB, from Nepal after the earthquake, on retreat in the mountains of New Mexico, and to Puerto Rico after Hurricane Maria. I have seen incredible resilience in people that have been through devastation and trauma. I have witnessed the kindness of strangers who are suffering the most, and yet offer me their only food or water. I have been fortunate enough to experience all of the wonderful benefits of the NADA protocol, and I’ve seen it works its magic on those afflicted by war, trauma, and frightening natural disasters. All of these things could be my most impactful moments with AWB, but I think they are a product of the beginnings.
I truly believe I was meant to do this work, born to do it, and that realization came to me in my very first AWB training session. It was there that the lightbulb went on. I had found purpose. I am eternally grateful for the opportunity to serve in this way, and I thank Diana and the team at AWB for allowing me to be a part of something bigger than myself, and so crucially important. That first training, that first moment when I knew this was my home was absolutely the biggest moment for me. Thank you all for leading me to my destiny.”
Thank you for all that you do Beth!
