Balance Yoga + Pilates is Glen Ellyn’s only locally female owned non-heated studio offering yoga, aerial, and pilates all in one space. Our name “Balance” was inspired by the yogic guideline “sthira-sukham asanam” which means simply - finding balance between “effort” and “ease”. We believe in the power of connection with others. In addition to our classes, we offer special events, workshops, and teacher training programs. We also love to host private events in our space! Discover balance in your body, mind, and life through yoga and pilates. When reviewing our class schedule with newer clients, one of the questions we are often asked is "What is Yin Yang Yoga?"

Yin Yang Yoga is a perfect "balance" of effort and ease!

We begin with an active all-levels "Yang" practice, designed to build strength, stability, and warmth in the body through active movements. Then we transition into the deeply relaxing "Yin" portion, where longer-held, passive stretches target the connective tissues, improve flexibility + mobility, and promote calmness.

This class is ideal for anyone seeking both energy and tranquility in one session. Leave feeling grounded, open, and at peace.

And even better - it is now offered twice a week! Tuesday nights at 7pm and Friday mornings at 9:30am.

(And no- you don't have to flexible to do this class. 😉)

We are thrilled to share another wonderful massage therapist seeing clients at the studio.

Many of you may recognize her as she also practices yoga with us - meet Christine! ❤️

Christine is a licensed massage therapist who earned her 600+ hour certification in Portland, Oregon, in 2004. Her training focused primarily on Western massage techniques, including Swedish, deep tissue, sports massage, trigger point therapy, and myofascial release.

Christine believes that each body is different. Our life experiences and the demands we place on our bodies - both positive and negative - shape how we move and feel. Her goal is to help clients live as pain-free as possible while continuing to do the activities they love, with minimal restriction to mobility. She believes this is best achieved through a balance of therapeutic massage, self-care, and increased body awareness.

Her warm energy and calming presence will help you feel right at ease. 😊

✨January Teacher Spotlight! ✨

Meet Emily! Emily has practiced yoga on and off almost her whole life as she grew up a competitive figure skater. However, it wasn’t until after college when she started moving deeper into the philosophy of yoga that she became dedicated to the lifestyle. While the asanas drew her in, the philosophy behind them moved her deeper into her practice. She felt a calling to share her passion and the magic of yoga with others. She believes every body is made for yoga and she tries her best to make it as accessible as possible.

Her favorite part about teaching is feeling everyone’s energy shift from the beginning to the end of each class. It feels so good to guide people to feel more calm and balanced. We all move through life a little happier and more connected after each session.

In addition to being a yoga teacher, Emily is a massage therapist and Reiki practitioner. (Guess what?! She also see clients at the studio on Saturday mornings!)
