This study is currently seeking participants. The purpose of this study is to evaluate the safety of repeated TP10 dosing in pediatric and adult patients with C3G and to evaluate the activity of TP10 in pediatric and adult patients with C3G, as measured by the proportion of patients with normalization of serum C3, serum C3 breakdown products, or alternative pathway (AP) complement activity.

https://clinicaltrials.gov/ct2/show/NCT02302755?term=Dense+deposit+diseases&rank=5

Treatment Period: All patients will be enrolled through the University of Iowa. This study will follow a patient-specific TP10 dose-escalation scheme during the Induction Period and subsequent dose adjustments based on complement levels during the Maintenance Period

This is a wonderful story.

Doctors expected Robert Phillips kidney transplant to give him another 2 years to live back in 1963. It gave him 54. Phillips’ donor kidney lasted longer than any other known in the world, except for those involving identical twins. Phillips died in December 2014 at the age of 88.

“When he passed away, the amazing thing was, his heart was bad, things were bad, he was not in any pain and his kidney was still in good condition,” said Phillips’ niece, Beverly Ange, who took care of him in his final years.

C3 glomerulopathy (C3G) defines a group of very rare renal diseases in which dysregulation of the alternative and terminal complement pathways plays a pivotal pathogenic role. Dysregulation is driven by genetic and/or acquired defects, with
interindividual variability giving rise to two broad subtypes of C3G-dense deposit disease (DDD) and C3 glomerulonephritis (C3GN). Patient evaluation should include genetic testing and biomarker profiling of complement activity.

Membranoproliferative glomerulonephritis (MPGN) is the third or fourth leading cause of end stage renal disease among the primary glomerulonephritis. Hyperactivation of the alternative complement pathway and familial forms for all types of MPGN have been reported suggesting that genetic abnormalitie…

Great news for patients with Dense Deposit Disease! After 15 years of research sponsored by Kidneeds, the FDA has approved drug trials for the first drug ever specifically targeted to treat dense deposit disease. The drug is called CDX-1135 and the University of Iowa is seeking 5 patients for the clinical trial. For more information, you can go to kidneeds website at www.healthcare.uiowa.ed/kidneeds.
Let's pray that this works!
