3 types of surgeons:
1. Slow and bad
2. Fast and bad
3. Fast and good
I think everyone who has done surgical training has heard this at one point. I might be one of the few to disagree.
Slow doesn’t always mean inefficient. Slow doesn’t always mean you don’t know what you’re doing. Slow can be redoing a suture. Slow can mean an extra check for bleeding. Slow can mean a couple extra minutes to even out a liposuctioned area. The problem is that those minutes can add up and make a case “slow”. But to imply slow is bad, in my mind, is incorrect.
