We have another exciting resource to share with you! Whether you have OCD, struggle with anxiety, or are a therapist with years of training and experience in providing mental health services, we all encounter life's difficulties. Especially when life becomes stressful, managing our emotions in a way that moves us in the direction of our values can be really hard. In an effort to both normalize struggling with life's difficulties and provide widely accessible, hands on skills to navigate painful situations, our own Dr. Molly St. Denis and her colleague, Dr. Liza Pincus created the podcast series, Therapists in the Wild.
Therapists in the Wild teaches skills from Dialectical Behavior Theory (DBT). Broadly, DBT is a modified type of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) that takes on the goals of helping people live more in the moment, develop healthy ways to cope with stress, regulate their emotions, and improve their relationships with others. Who couldn't benefit from bettering themselves in those areas? Each episode of Therapists in the Wild aims to teach one skill from DBT. After Dr. St. Denis and Dr. Pincus explain the skill and its purpose in detail, they embark on the vulnerable, sometimes fun, and engaging task of applying the skill to difficulties they are encountering in the own lives.
If you decide to give their podcast a listen, I think you will find Dr. St. Denis and Dr. Pincus extremely relatable, knowledgeable, effective in teaching skills that ultimately lead to a more meaningful, fulfilling life. Even more so, their vulnerability in sharing their own painful experiences and how these skills have helped them is a powerful reminder that no one moves through life without pain. Their podcast is widely available for free through various podcast platforms. Click the link below to learn more and start listening!
