The culmination of a long appointment on a young sweet lady who always drives six hours with her husband to receive treatment. Today we placed her second zirconia implant and extracted a wisdom tooth. Herbal relaxants and laughing gas made it all tolerable and almost fun while she watched a documentary on the overhead screen. An important mention here of the significance of a cone beam study in implant planning to know how deep to go with the optimum implant length without hitting the IA nerve. Sure enough I was spot on, stopping less than 1 mm before the nerve as I placed the implant exactly where I wanted.

Most parents think orthodontics starts when teeth look crowded.
But early orthopedic guidance is about something much bigger: how your child is growing.

During childhood, the jaws are still developing. That window allows us to gently guide growth in a way that supports proper bite, airway, and long-term oral health — often reducing the need for more invasive orthodontic treatment later on.

This approach isn’t about rushing treatment or forcing teeth into place.
It’s about timing, foundation, and working with a child’s natural development.

If you’ve ever wondered whether your child should be evaluated early, this conversation is worth having.

Most practitioners including myself who quote the ancient Hippocratic Oath of “primum non nocere” (first do no harm) is actually a later Roman simplified version in Latin. Hippocrates is considered the father of Western medicine. He lived on the Greek island of Kos in the 5th century BC. Here are excerpts of his original oath in Ionic Greek, with translation. I swear by Apollo the Healer, and Asclepius, and Hygieia, and Panacea, and all the gods and goddesses, making them my witnesses, that I will fulfill according to my ability and judgment this oath and this covenant:
I will use those regimens which will benefit my patients according to my greatest ability and judgment, and I will do no harm or injustice to them.

I will not give a lethal drug to anyone if I am asked, nor will I advise such a plan; and similarly I will not give a woman a pessary to cause abortion.

In purity and with holiness I will guard my life and my art. Two art pieces of mine depicting Armenian gods with attributes to healing, are Anahid (goddess of love, healing and childbirth) and Tir (god of scribes and dreams, also messenger god similar to Apollo) In our frantic daily lives treating patients, Hippocrates should be giving us a gentle reminder of our sacred duties towards our patients.
