Being a mobile midwife here in AZ I understand the need for families to have home based care. It is nothing in comparison to the need in Haiti where transportation and economics are huge factors in women receiving care they need. I LOVE the idea there are midwives in Haiti providing this service.

*UPDATE: ONE DAY LEFT- 62% funded! HELP!* Prenatal care saves lives. Mobile clinic midwife, Marie Ange, examines a pregnant mother in the space she has available at this rural clinic in Los Monmones. Opposite this corner, another midwife is also doing maternal assessments. 50 women received prenatal or postnatal care here yesterday. The traveling midwives can see up to 150 women on a single day and are reaching 24 villages monthly. Most women walk long distances at all stages of pregnancy to reach these clinics, and 1/3 of the women walk over 3 hours *each way* because it’s usually their only chance to receive the care that ensures a safe pregnancy.

That is a LOT of nuchal cord! I have had one birth like that in my career. Very quick birth with a first time mom.
