✨ Meet Steve — One of the Smiling Faces That Keeps Thunderbird Running ✨
Everyone knows Steve. He’s the one always on the move—fixing this, repairing that—and doing it all with a smile on his face. But there’s so much more to his story that makes us especially grateful to have him as part of the Thunderbird family.
Born in Phoenix on September 6, 2002, Steve is the youngest of seven children (yes—six sisters!) and has been following in his big sister Valerie’s footsteps since he was about four years old. Although he’s only been working with us full-time for the past two years, his journey here started with what was supposed to be a two-week temporary position as a night security guard.
That short-term job quickly turned into something much bigger. Steve caught Scott’s eye and was offered an apprenticeship—on one condition: a five-year commitment. Not knowing exactly what path he wanted, but knowing a desk job wasn’t for him, Steve took the leap. Since then, Scott has mentored him every step of the way, and Steve continues to learn something new every day, growing more confident and skilled in his role.
Before Thunderbird, Steve worked at Chick-fil-A, but he says it didn’t bring him the fulfillment he feels here. He genuinely loves this place and wakes up every morning happy to come to work. He’s also excited about Stellar taking over, confident they’ll care for and enhance the community he’s grown to love.
When asked how it feels to be surrounded by “old folks” like us, Steve shared something truly special—he’s hopeful about his own future because of what he sees in our residents every day. ❤️
We are incredibly lucky to have such an energetic, kind, and cheerful young man who meets every need with a smile and a handshake. Thank you, Steve, for all that you do. We’re so glad you’re here. 🌟
