Diphenhydramine (BENADRYL®) is not recommended for treating allergies because of its short-term action to manage symptoms and known side effects. There are many newer OTC antihistamines available that work better, are longer acting, and are safer. Did you know epinephrine auto-injectors, the first-line treatment for an anaphylaxis reaction, can lose potency within hours when stored in a hot vehicle? Short-term exposure to heat in a car on a sunny day can decrease the concentration of epinephrine in auto-injectors. A degraded epinephrine auto-injector could result in underdosage during anaphylaxis, a life-threatening allergic reaction.

Los Angeles County is vaccinating healthcare workers, long-term care patients, and seniors age 65 and over. If you qualify, you can register for an appointment at http://publichealth.lacounty.gov/acd/ncorona2019/vaccine/hcwsignup/.

Note: Low risk healthcare workers such as administrative support staff without routine in-person patient contact will be offered vaccination in Phase 1B Tier 2. Veterinary Medical Personnel will be offered vaccination in Phase 1B.
