Reynolds Memorial Hospital

Reynolds Memorial Hospital Providing quality care close to home. Reynolds Memorial Hospital is a nonprofit, acute-care community hospital located in Glen Dale, WV.

We are governed by a 25-member volunteer board of directors and licensed for 90-beds and a 20-bed Skilled Nursing Unit. The hospital began as God’s Providence Home, an old farmhouse converted to an infirmary by B.M. Spurr, Archdeacon of the WV Episcopal Diocese. In 1899, Archdeacon Spurr founded the hospital through funding provided by Emily Van Buren Reynolds, daughter of U.S. President Martin Van Buren, in memory of her husband and sons. The current facility was constructed in 1963. Expansion and modernization continue with the most recent addition of a new women’s health center. Few elements of a community can impact the quality of life like practical, accessible health care. At Reynolds Memorial Hospital, our mission is to provide quality care to patients and the community at a reasonable cost. We are proud of our reputation for compassion and sincere concern. Through shared values and a creative approach to improving service, the professional staff at Reynolds Memorial Hospital have demonstrated this commitment: to remain focused on our tradition of caring and to assure the quality service as health care evolves. Reynolds Memorial Hospital is licensed by the WV State Health Department and is accredited by the Joint Commission on Accreditation of Healthcare Organizations. The hospital is a member of the Voluntary Hospital Association, Inc., the American Hospital Association and the WV Hospital Association. We have a medical and dental staff of more than 100 practitioners. We provide a full range of medical services to meet the needs of our community that include general medical and surgical care, cardiac and other intensive care, home health and skilled nursing care.

Last week, we came together with several of our local hospitals to celebrate at a regional DAISY Awards luncheon. It was a wonderful opportunity to honor our incredible DAISY Award winners and recognize the compassion, dedication, and excellence they bring to their work every day as nurses.

In addition to our winners from Reynolds Memorial Hospital, we were proud to be joined by Wheeling Hospital, Wetzel County Hospital, Barnesville Hospital, and Harrison Community Hospital. Congratulations to all of these amazing nurses—your impact makes a difference every single day!

This past weekend, the WVU Medicine Critical Care and Trauma Institute, in collaboration with HealthNet Aeromedical Services, delivered four Airway Boot Camp sessions across the north region. Over the course of three days, healthcare professionals from EMS and hospital settings participated in immersive, hands‑on training designed to strengthen familiarity, confidence, and proficiency in both basic and advanced airway management.

The sessions focused on real‑world airway challenges, evidence‑based best practices, and critical care and trauma scenarios, all supported by state‑of‑the‑art simulation mannequins. More than 135 healthcare providers took part in this high‑impact educational experience occurring in St. Clairsville, Ohio; Wheeling, WV; Moundsville, WV; and Wintersville, Ohio.

A heartfelt thank‑you goes to the north region Critical Care and Trauma Institute leadership team, their committee, as well as to HealthNet, for their exceptional effort in organizing and delivering such a high‑quality program. Their commitment to advancing clinical excellence continues to enhance patient care throughout the region.

Have you been in our main lobby lately? If so, you may have noticed our new Gem transport vehicle—an exciting addition designed to benefit our patients! This vehicle will help guests get safely and comfortably from their cars to the building and back. We are incredibly grateful to the RMH Auxiliary for their generous donation and can’t wait for everyone to see it in action as it makes rounds in the parking lot.

Pictured below are several members of the RMH Auxiliary with Reynolds CEO Tony Martinelli.

Due to current weather conditions across the Ohio Valley, several locations will experience closures or delayed openings for tomorrow, Monday, January 26th.

All other offsite and clinic locations are contacting patients directly to reschedule appointments or transition to telehealth services as appropriate.
With many counties currently under Level 2 and Level 3 weather advisories, we encourage everyone to follow local and state guidance and use caution if traveling.
Our hospitals remain staffed, open, and ready to provide care. If you need emergency services, we are here for you while urging safe travel for all who must be on the roads.

We also extend our sincere appreciation to our physicians, nurses, staff, and support teams for their continued commitment to patient care and service, especially during challenging weather conditions.
Please stay safe and warm.

Good evening, all. In anticipation of the upcoming storm, we have made some changes to our hours of service at our offsite clinics, and all Rapid Care and Urgent Care locations (Moundsville, Mt. Olivet, Benwood, Martins Ferry, and Downtown Wheeling).

All Rapid Care and Urgent Care locations will remain open today, Saturday, January 24th, until their normally scheduled closing times. All Rapid Care and Urgent Care locations will be closed tomorrow, January 25th. All Rapid Care and Urgent Care locations are tentatively scheduled to open at 10am on Monday, January 26th, though that is subject to change depending on the weather. Patients with previously scheduled clinic/offsite appointments have been contacted directly with new appointment dates/times, or telemed options. We will update you here as soon as possible should any of the above info change.
Additionally, the Howard Long Wellness Center will be closed on Sunday, January 25th.

Our hospitals remain open and fully operational. Please use extreme caution should you choose to seek emergency help. Stay safe, check on your neighbors as you are able, and stay tuned for updates. Thank you.

Our Story

At Reynolds Memorial Hospital in Glen Dale, we've been providing quality care close to home for more than 100 years -- and now we're connected to the largest health care system in the state, WVU Medicine.

Few elements of a community can impact the quality of life like practical, accessible health care. At Reynolds Memorial Hospital, our mission is to provide quality care to patients and the community at a reasonable cost. In coordination with WVU Medicine, we provide the Ohio Valley with the most advanced care when people are sick, and connect them with resources and access to preventative care to keep them healthy.

You don’t need to travel far for quality care. As an extension of WVU Medicine, our full range of medical services keeps you close to home while you receive quality cancer care, cardiac and pulmonary care, orthopedic care, and much more. We listen to the needs of our community as we continue to add and expand services.
