Reynolds Memorial Hospital

Reynolds Memorial Hospital Providing quality care close to home. Reynolds Memorial Hospital is a nonprofit, acute-care community hospital located in Glen Dale, WV.

We are governed by a 25-member volunteer board of directors and licensed for 90-beds and a 20-bed Skilled Nursing Unit. The hospital began as God’s Providence Home, an old farmhouse converted to an infirmary by B.M. Spurr, Archdeacon of the WV Episcopal Diocese. In 1899, Archdeacon Spurr founded the hospital through funding provided by Emily Van Buren Reynolds, daughter of U.S. President Martin Van Buren, in memory of her husband and sons. The current facility was constructed in 1963. Expansion and modernization continue with the most recent addition of a new women’s health center. Few elements of a community can impact the quality of life like practical, accessible health care. At Reynolds Memorial Hospital, our mission is to provide quality care to patients and the community at a reasonable cost. We are proud of our reputation for compassion and sincere concern. Through shared values and a creative approach to improving service, the professional staff at Reynolds Memorial Hospital have demonstrated this commitment: to remain focused on our tradition of caring and to assure the quality service as health care evolves. Reynolds Memorial Hospital is licensed by the WV State Health Department and is accredited by the Joint Commission on Accreditation of Healthcare Organizations. The hospital is a member of the Voluntary Hospital Association, Inc., the American Hospital Association and the WV Hospital Association. We have a medical and dental staff of more than 100 practitioners. We provide a full range of medical services to meet the needs of our community that include general medical and surgical care, cardiac and other intensive care, home health and skilled nursing care.

A PET (Positron Emission Tomography) scan is an advanced imaging test that helps doctors detect cancer, evaluate heart conditions, and assess brain function by showing how tissues and organs are functioning in real time. It plays a critical role in early diagnosis and treatment planning. Our PET Scan services are available on various days of the week at five convenient locations across the Ohio Valley.

When scheduling your appointment, be sure to request your preferred location through your doctor’s office to ensure the most convenient option for you.

We’re proud to provide advanced imaging close to home!

Last week, we celebrated Employee Appreciation Day by recognizing the incredible team members who make a difference every day.

Our employees enjoyed a free lunch (prepared by our incredible dietary team) along with desserts and snacks as a small token of our gratitude. While we value and appreciate our team all year long, it was wonderful to take time to celebrate them and all they do for our patients and community. Thank you, RMH employees!

WVU Medicine was proud to partner with the Marshall County Chamber of Commerce to sponsor the Better Life Health and Business Expo this past weekend.

Team members from Reynolds Memorial and Wheeling Hospital shared valuable health and wellness information, offered free pulse checks and blood pressure screenings, and gave CPR demonstrations. We also enjoyed mentoring area kids through our Mini Mountaineer Medical Mission play station, giving them a fun, hands-on look at healthcare.

Thank you to everyone who stopped by to visit with our team!

We are thrilled to share that Dr. Stanley Zaslau successfully completed his first case of the Altaviva™ system, a small implantable device for urge urinary incontinence. We are excited to offer this treatment to our patients! Unlike medications or injections that target bladder muscles, the Altaviva™ implant for urge urinary incontinence (UUI) targets the tibial nerve that helps control normal bladder function.

How does it work?
A small device is placed under the skin near the ankle and sends electrical pulses to the tibial nerve that is important in maintaining normal bladder function.
These pulses may help restore the communication pathways between the bladder and brain, which may help reduce urgency with leaks.
This treatment is called tibial neuromodulation, a proven therapy for reducing bladder control symptoms.

The device can be implanted and activated in a single, outpatient procedure and has a designed life of 15 years. For more information on this service, or other urological services, please call 304-221-4543.
