Reynolds Memorial Hospital

Reynolds Memorial Hospital Providing quality care close to home. Reynolds Memorial Hospital is a nonprofit, acute-care community hospital located in Glen Dale, WV.

We are governed by a 25-member volunteer board of directors and licensed for 90-beds and a 20-bed Skilled Nursing Unit. The hospital began as God’s Providence Home, an old farmhouse converted to an infirmary by B.M. Spurr, Archdeacon of the WV Episcopal Diocese. In 1899, Archdeacon Spurr founded the hospital through funding provided by Emily Van Buren Reynolds, daughter of U.S. President Martin Va

n Buren, in memory of her husband and sons. The current facility was constructed in 1963. Expansion and modernization continue with the most recent addition of a new women’s health center. Few elements of a community can impact the quality of life like practical, accessible health care. At Reynolds Memorial Hospital, our mission is to provide quality care to patients and the community at a reasonable cost. We are proud of our reputation for compassion and sincere concern. Through shared values and a creative approach to improving service, the professional staff at Reynolds Memorial Hospital have demonstrated this commitment: to remain focused on our tradition of caring and to assure the quality service as health care evolves. Reynolds Memorial Hospital is licensed by the WV State Health Department and is accredited by the Joint Commission on Accreditation of Healthcare Organizations. The hospital is a member of the Voluntary Hospital Association, Inc., the American Hospital Association and the WV Hospital Association. We have a medical and dental staff of more than 100 practitioners. We provide a full range of medical services to meet the needs of our community that include general medical and surgical care, cardiac and other intensive care, home health and skilled nursing care.

WVU Medicine was proud to sponsor the Marshall County Chamber of Commerce Annual Ladies Luncheon, an event that celebrates the leadership, resilience, and community spirit of women across the region. Among the guest speakers was our own Jennifer Riley, MSN, RN, NE-BC, chief nursing officer and vice president of patient care services at WVU Medicine.

Jennifer shared a powerful and deeply personal story, reflecting on the hardships she has faced and challenges that at times felt overwhelming. Through perseverance and an unwavering commitment to others, she has not only navigated those obstacles but emerged stronger, with a leadership style grounded in service to others. Her journey ultimately shaped her path to her current role at WVU Medicine, where she leads with compassion, purpose, and a steadfast dedication to patient care. It is a meaningful reminder of the strength it takes to lead through adversity while staying true to one’s values.

Jessica Moore, AVP of Foundation and Community Relations, served as emcee for the event and kicked off the afternoon’s festivities. Thank you for another exceptional luncheon celebrating the many influential female leaders of the Ohio Valley. We are grateful to the Chamber for hosting such a wonderful and inspiring event.

Did you hear the news?

WVU Medicine has announced more than $350 million in new capital projects for 2026 — bringing total investments over the past three years to more than $1.2 billion to strengthen healthcare across West Virginia and the surrounding areas.

One of our exciting additions in the North Region is a new, small community hospital in St. Clairsville, Ohio. This two-story, 55,000-square-foot facility will include inpatient beds, an emergency department, and outpatient imaging and lab services. It will also feature 14 specialty clinics, primary care services, and the addition of new services all designed to bring forth better care for our neighbors.

As President and CEO Albert L. Wright, Jr. shared, this work is intentional and mission-driven — focused on delivering better service and greater access for every community we serve.

The impact goes beyond healthcare; these investments are creating jobs and supporting local economies, helping our region grow and thrive. This is what it means to build a healthier future together. We’re excited to see what’s ahead for our region!

Last week, we came together with our partners at CORE (Center for Organ Recovery & Education) and proudly raised the Donate Life flag in honor of April being Donate Life Month. 💙💚
We were also honored to hear from an organ recipient, who shared his own powerful story about how the gift of organ donation saved his life.
Approximately 100,000 people are waiting for a life-saving organ transplant. One decision—becoming an organ donor—can enhance or even save multiple lives.
Let’s come together to make a difference. If you’re not already registered, take a moment today to sign up and give the gift of life: RegisterMe.com/WVUMedicine.
