Reynolds Memorial Hospital

Reynolds Memorial Hospital Providing quality care close to home. Reynolds Memorial Hospital is a nonprofit, acute-care community hospital located in Glen Dale, WV.

We are governed by a 25-member volunteer board of directors and licensed for 90-beds and a 20-bed Skilled Nursing Unit. The hospital began as God’s Providence Home, an old farmhouse converted to an infirmary by B.M. Spurr, Archdeacon of the WV Episcopal Diocese. In 1899, Archdeacon Spurr founded the hospital through funding provided by Emily Van Buren Reynolds, daughter of U.S. President Martin Van Buren, in memory of her husband and sons. The current facility was constructed in 1963. Expansion and modernization continue with the most recent addition of a new women’s health center. Few elements of a community can impact the quality of life like practical, accessible health care. At Reynolds Memorial Hospital, our mission is to provide quality care to patients and the community at a reasonable cost. We are proud of our reputation for compassion and sincere concern. Through shared values and a creative approach to improving service, the professional staff at Reynolds Memorial Hospital have demonstrated this commitment: to remain focused on our tradition of caring and to assure the quality service as health care evolves. Reynolds Memorial Hospital is licensed by the WV State Health Department and is accredited by the Joint Commission on Accreditation of Healthcare Organizations. The hospital is a member of the Voluntary Hospital Association, Inc., the American Hospital Association and the WV Hospital Association. We have a medical and dental staff of more than 100 practitioners. We provide a full range of medical services to meet the needs of our community that include general medical and surgical care, cardiac and other intensive care, home health and skilled nursing care.

Congratulations to Katelyn Dantzler, named RMH APP of the Year, and Samantha Namlik, recognized as RMH APP Rising Star of the Year. Representing Wheeling Hospital, Bob Potts was honored as APP of the Year, while Danielle Palmer received the APP Rising Star of the Year award. We are incredibly grateful to the Reynolds Memorial Hospital Auxiliary for their generous $5,000 donation to the Employee Assistance Fund.

This fund exists to support our employees during unexpected hardships - providing a helping hand when it’s needed most and reinforcing the culture of care we strive to create for those who care for others every day.

The Auxiliary’s continued support is a powerful reminder of the deep commitment they have to our hospital, our employees, and our community. Thank you for always standing behind our team and for making a meaningful difference in the lives of those who serve our patients.

Last week WVU Medicine Reynolds Memorial and Wheeling Hospital celebrated another joined Aspiring Nurse Signing Ceremony at Wheeling Park's White Palace. Regionally, students currently enrolled in nursing school at Belmont College, Ohio University Eastern, West Liberty, and West Virginia Northern Community College were accepted in to our Aspiring Nurse program, where some of them will begin their nursing journey with us here at Reynolds Memorial Hospital upon graduation. We are fortunate to have such great support for this program from a system level, as Jessica Huffman, AVP Nursing Services for WVU Health System, was on hand with North Region leadership to speak with each of the students. We are so proud of these students for all they have (and will) achieved, and are thankful to their families, teachers, and WVU Medicine mentors who will continue to support them throughout their nursing journey. Welcome to the family!
