False.

A colonoscopy is often thought to be a screening test only for people aged 50 and older—but that’s a myth.
In reality, colonoscopies can be important for adults of all ages, especially if there’s a family history of colore**al cancer, symptoms like unexplained digestive issues, or other risk factors. Early screening can catch problems before they become serious, improving outcomes and saving lives.
Don’t wait until 50 if you have concerns—contact the Colon Re**al Center of Arizona in Phoenix to discuss when you should start screening. Staying informed and proactive is key to your health at any age.

🍎🥧 Holiday PSA: The Apple Pie Truth…
Apple pie may feel like a warm hug this season, but your colon might not agree. Here’s why that delicious slice can leave you bloated, backed-up, and slowed down:

👉 Butter + sugar = slow colon
All the butter, crust, and syrupy filling can slow digestion and tighten things up fast.

👉 Low fiber, high feels
Apple pie sounds healthy, but most of the fiber disappears once apples are cooked down.

👉 Holiday dehydration is real
Coffee, wine, and not enough water can leave your colon drier than Arizona in July.

👉 Ice cream is the final boss
Dairy can be a constipation trigger, making pie + ice cream a perfect storm.

Holiday survival tip:
Enjoy your slice, but stay hydrated, get some fiber in your day, and take a walk after dinner. Your colon will thank you. 😅🎄

👀 What’s a polyp—and why should you care?

A polyp is a small growth on the inner lining of your colon or re**um.
Most are harmless. But here’s the important part: some can slowly turn cancerous—over the course of years.

That’s where screening makes the difference.
With a colonoscopy, we can find and remove polyps before they ever become cancer—often during the same visit.

Who should be screened?
• Adults starting at age 45 (earlier if you have a family history, genetic risk, or ongoing symptoms).
• If you notice re**al bleeding, new bowel habit changes, or persistent abdominal pain—don’t wait.

At Colon & Re**al Center of Arizona, our specialists are dedicated to prevention, early detection, and expert care for colon and re**al health.

To Our Primary Care Colleagues:

We are often asked by new physicians: “When is the right time to refer a patient to a colon & re**al surgeon?”

Our perspective: early referral is always appropriate. There is no harm in sending a patient sooner rather than later.

If a patient reports re**al bleeding, a**l discomfort, or “butt issues” of any kind, these symptoms can point to a wide range of conditions—some benign, some more serious. Because our practice is dedicated exclusively to these disorders, we are able to provide a thorough intake and examination that many primary care settings understandably cannot accommodate.

By partnering together, we can ensure your patients receive a complete evaluation, timely diagnosis, and the specialized care they deserve. We will always communicate findings and coordinate closely with you to support continuity of care.

Medical Breakthrough Report | Colon Re**al Center of Arizona

Findings from a new Phase III clinical trial presented by Mayo Clinic at the American Society of Clinical Oncology suggest a major advance for patients with late-stage colon cancer.

The study found that adding an immunotherapy drug to chemotherapy after surgery reduced recurrence and death by 50% in patients with Stage 3 deficient mismatch repair (dMMR) colon cancer.

Key details:
• The trial enrolled 712 patients with Stage 3 dMMR colon cancer.
• This form of cancer affects about 15% of the 1.9 million people diagnosed worldwide each year.
• Stage 3 occurs when colore**al cancer has spread to the lymph nodes but not beyond.
• The results have not yet been published in a peer-reviewed journal.

Your gut and brain are in constant conversation. Stress, anxiety, and even what you eat can change how your digestive system feels and functions.

✨ Harvard Health + Mayo Clinic research confirm: caring for your gut isn’t just about digestion—it’s about your mood, energy, and long-term health.

Your colon isn’t just a tube—it’s a masterpiece of design.
👉 The inner lining (mucosa) absorbs and protects.
👉 The submucosa carries the vessels and “wiring.”
👉 The muscle layers move everything forward.
👉 The outer serosa keeps everything gliding.

At Colon & Re**al Center of Arizona, Dr. Forstner and Dr. Makarawo use minimally invasive and robotic techniques that respect each layer—because healing starts with precision.

If you’re experiencing discomfort, need a second opinion, or want to stay ahead with the latest screening guidelines, visit crcaz.com today.
