Thank you to everyone who came to the East End Rising meeting last night. I understand your frustration with issues that have been ignored and promises that have not been kept. Some of the issues I have been fighting for go back more than a dozen years without resolution. As frustrating as that is, it is important for you to stay engaged with the process, and it is important to get your friends and neighbors involved too. As mentioned last night there is an East End Action Comittee Meeting 3/7 at 10am Rock Hill Bakehouse & Cafe open to everyone. It is one thing for the City to hear from the same person over and over again, but it is another to hear it from multiple sources. Just like when they were talking about the survey for the comprehensive plan, when not enough people responded those data points were essentially thrown out (you can't graph one data point, and if only one person in the City is complaining how big of a problem is it? My words and interpretation). The message is there is strength in numbers, stay engaged and get your friends and neighbors engaged, they don't need to come to meetings (although it would be great if they did) but make sure when the surveys are available in May you make sure as many people who feel the same way as you about issues fill them out. The official website is at https://www.eastendrising.com/ I will also post important info on the process here and on the East End Action Committe page. This is a process, nothing will happen overnight, but this is a mechanism to help move things forward on the East End, and if you live here or work here you need to be part of the process to make things change for the better.
