Today marks the end of an era.
After 29 years, Greg Porter signs off for the last time at Ross/West View EMS—an organization he helped shape at every level. From Paramedic, to Supervisor, to Assistant Director, and ultimately Executive Director & Chief, Greg’s career has been defined by steady leadership, deep knowledge, and an unwavering commitment to doing what’s right for patients and the communities he served.
For nearly three decades, he didn’t just respond to calls—he built systems, mentored providers, strengthened partnerships, and continually pushed for better. The high-performing care that Ross/West View EMS delivers today is, in many ways, a reflection of Greg’s vision and persistence.
Beyond his agency, Greg has long been a respected voice across our region and throughout Pennsylvania—someone people turn to for guidance, perspective, and solutions.
But for those of us at Shaler Hampton EMS, Greg has meant something even more.
He’s been the kind of neighbor every EMS agency hopes for.
Whether it was working together on joint training, supporting each other when resources were stretched, or simply picking up the phone to solve a problem, Greg helped create a true partnership between our organizations. That collaboration didn’t just make our agencies stronger—it made all eight of our collective communities better served.
On Monday, Greg begins a new chapter as Senior Director of EMS with UPMC. And while today is a farewell to Ross/West View, it’s also a moment of excitement for what’s ahead. Because if there’s one thing we know, it’s that Greg will bring the same passion, integrity, and leadership to this new role—and the impact will be felt across an even larger stage.
Thank you, Greg, for 29 years of service, leadership, and partnership.
And congratulations—UPMC is getting one of the very best.
