Partnerships help patients!

GMCC was recently recognized by statewide nonprofit Rx Partnership for its role in providing patients with free prescription medication to support their improved health. The clinic is able to provide low-income, uninsured patients with medication to treat a variety of chronic conditions like diabetes and hypertension because of its connection with Rx Partnership. For more than 20 years, GMCC has worked with Rx Partnership to ensure that patients have the critical medication needed to maintain and improve their health, regardless of their ability to pay.

“Filling prescriptions can be costly and without the support of the clinic and Rx Partnership, we know many patients would go without essential medications,” said Amy Yarcich, Executive Director of Rx Partnership. “By making prescriptions available quickly and affordably, the clinic serves as an essential safety net for vulnerable patients.”

“Because of our connection with Rx Partnership, we can make sure patients take medication as directed because they don’t have to worry about the cost. They can receive all the medications they need to manage chronic conditions and improve their health,” said Arlene Armentor, Executive Director at GMCC.

GMCC received its certificate of recognition from Rx Partnership during the recent Virginia Association of Free & Charitable Clinic’s annual conference in Roanoke.

Today as the nation recognizes the selfless work of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. by celebrating his birthday, our friends at honor his legacy by giving back. Their annual brings Langley volunteers out in their community to help local organizations fill unmet needs. For us at the Clinic, keeping our facility looking its best is often a task that we just can't keep up with-- so we thank these lovely volunteers for thinking of us every year!

Today, this Langley team has spruced up our dental clinic and nurses' work stations with a fresh coat of paint. We are looking good!

Thank you, Langley Federal Credit Union, for donating your time and talents to us on your day off.

They also accepted donations from their customers to fill the hygiene pantry at GMCC, which supplies patients in need with personal items and toiletries.

Phillips Energy, Inc is a GMCC Community Health Partner and works throughout the year to support local organizations to make Gloucester-Mathews a great place to live.

Our Story

We are committed to everyone from Gloucester and Mathews Counties having access to basic healthcare and patient education.

The Gloucester Mathews Care Clinic was founded in 1998 by a group of parishioners from Abingdon Episcopal Church who were concerned about Gloucester & Mathews residents without insurance and unable to afford medical treatment or medications. Initially located in Hayes through operating space provided by Riverside Health System, we moved into our current facility in 2014. We have expanded from serving just over 100 patients in our first year to now over 900 patients annually.
