What a fun afternoon planting 🌳! Thank you to the City of St. James for having us out to teach about Emerald Ash Borer and treatment options. The city is doing great things for teaching the kids about planting trees, and taking initiative in growing and diversifying our urban canopy in the wake of Emerald Ash Borer.

We have added an exciting and important tool to our Plant Health Care arsenal, the Air Spade! This tool uses compressed air to safely remove built up dirt from around tree roots. Exposing tree root flares mitigates early onset of root and trunk rot and allows for the removal of girdling roots that will lead to premature decline by choking off water and nutrient supply to the tree.

- Soil aeration and decompaction
- Radial trenching

TREES, TREES, and....you guessed it, more TREES! This summer we are planting an additional 94 trees for the City of Welcome who are showing great initiative in re-establishing their urban canopy following the loss of their Ash trees. Welcome is prioritizing diversity and longevity with a wide range of tree species. Thank you for being a leader in the re-forestation efforts of the Midwest and partnering with us at Ahrens Arbor Care to tackle this project!

7 declining Maple trees removed! These trees were reaching the end of their life cycle and were losing large limbs causing safety concerns.

We planted these beautiful, Minnesota native Ninebark to slow the wind and snow once they get established. 🤩🌱
