What is Acne? Let’s take a closer look 🔍

Acne is an inherited disorder of the pores where dead skin cells shed faster than average. On average the skin should shed 1 layer a day, but those that are acne prone can shed up to 5 layers a day. This caused build up. ⚠️

This build up manifests as microcomedone which then becomes either a whitehead or a blackhead under the skin. From there with the presence of bacteria 🦠 these microcomedones feed on dead skin and oil creating pimples, pustules or cysts.

This process can take up to 90 DAYS to become visible. 🗓️

This is why it’s important to give your skin time to adjust to new products and regimes, while also allowing old skin cells time to shed. It’s recommended to give your skin at least 90 days (3 months) before deeming a product or treatment ineffective. ⏰
