Today cannabis has been federally approved for reclassification from Schedule I to Schedule III, marking the most significant shift in U.S. cannabis policy in decades, with implementation expected in the coming months.

This does not mean federal legalization. But it does introduce real operational changes for state-licensed cannabis businesses across the country. At Sun God Medicinals we are monitoring these changes with hope and optimism that the plant will be better regulated and researched, but also craft cannabis is given a pathway to be a dietary supplement in a cGMP environment.

A plant by the people and for the people should not be entirely controlled by big business and big pharma. This healing plant has been a part of legend, lore, and herbal traditions for over a millennium. We have paid respect at Sun God Medicinals to the healers before us, extracting and blending cannabis for the past ten years utilizing traditional methods to capture the diverse phytoconstituents of the plant. We do not aim to isolate one molecule, but embrace the balance the plant has to offer.

Nice to know the era of prohibition, incarcerations, judgement, and ridicule is coming to an end and being recognized for its healing properties across the globe.

This is the time of year to harvest hawthorn berries which have been used throughout history to help support cardiovascular health.

Hawthorn berry tea recipe
Ingredients
2–3 tablespoons dried hawthorn berries
2 cups water
Optional additions to balance the tart flavor:
1/2 cinnamon stick
1 teaspoon honey
Thin slice of ginger
A few dried rose petals
Instructions
Add the dried hawthorn berries and water to a small pot. For a stronger brew, you can lightly crush the berries beforehand to help release their flavor.
Bring the water to a boil, then reduce the heat to a simmer.
Simmer gently for 15–20 minutes.
Remove the pot from the heat and allow the tea to cool slightly.
Strain the berries from the liquid using a fine-mesh sieve.
Stir in honey or other desired additions to taste.
Serve hot, or chill the tea to enjoy it iced.
