Pain is the most common symptom experienced by people living with EDS/HSD and yet it is so often undertreated and misunderstood.

Pain can feel complicated (you’re given conflicting answers! you’re gaslit! you’re told a million different things to do, to try!) and to treat pain, it’s important that we begin with an understanding of it.

First things first, your pain is real. Period. (don’t let anyone tell you that it isn’t)

We can experience different types of pain and there are oh so many flavors of pain that come with living with EDS/HSD.

One differentiation is acute vs chronic pain. With EDS/HSD, people experience BOTH types all the time and treatment needs to address each to be effective!

Not addressing both types of pain is one of the biggest mistakes I see with PTs who don’t specialize in treating EDS and hypermobility-related syndromes.

There are a lot of things we can do to treat pain… in PT and beyond… so don’t give up! Keep trying until you find what works for you!

We welcomed our baby boy to the world just over 2 weeks ago and life has certainly been sweeter ever since! We’re so in love with this little dude. 💙

We prepped all pregnancy to have a natural physiological birth, but when it came time, we threw all our birth plans out the window and brought him into this world via an urgent c-section.

Somehow it all felt calm and meant to be to do it this way and we’re ever grateful for our healthcare team that kept both of us safe and healthy.

Hypermobility 🤝 Pelvic floor dysfunction

They often go hand in hand, which is why it’s so important that we treat the whole body when living with hypermobility and related conditions.

Your connective tissue can affect your ➡️ nervous system, which can affect your ➡️ digestion, which can affect your ➡️ pelvic floor muscles… or vice versa! It’s all related and all connected!

In PT, we have a wide variety of tools that can help different systems in your body function better together and that’s really what it’s all about!

She will be leading a 4 week Therapeutic SomaYoga class for people living with Ehlers- Danlos Syndrome and Hypermobility- related conditions.
