What if the meaning of a Reiki mantra isn’t only in the translation — but in the sound itself?

While exploring the word hei sei (平静) during a meditation recording, I noticed something familiar. The sound sei immediately evoked the quality of harmony we associate with the Reiki mantra Sei Heki.

The kanji are completely different.
The etymology is unrelated.

And yet both lead us toward the same experience:
stillness, balance, the settling of inner turbulence.

This opens the door to the ancient Japanese idea of kotodama (言霊) the understanding that sound itself carries spiritual power, independent of the characters used to write it.

In mantra practice, we are not simply repeating a word.

We are entering the vibration.

The antidote is creating with the creator. It is difficult to be violent in the spirit of creation.

The practice- unconditional love, find a plant and nurture it, sing to it, say I love you, pour everything you have into it. Examine how you feel afterwards…now, give that feeling to everyone you encounter today!
