I used to feel like I had it at least somewhat together. Then came pets, kids, Covid, starting a business, and so on and so forth. I suddenly realized that I have become a dehydrated, sleep deprived, undernourished, exhausted, stressed-out mess.

So, for the next twelve weeks, I’m launching The Get My S%&t Together Challenge! Each week, we’ll focus on starting one good habit. By the time the challenge is over, we will be paragons of healthy virtue. I’ll post every Monday with what we’re doing that week and some words of encouragement. Times are Challenging. Check In with Yourself!

A great way to practice self-care is to check in with yourself regularly to see how you are feeling. Find a quiet, comfortable place to sit or lie down, or go for a walk in a peaceful place. Take some slow, deep breaths. Go over your body from head to toe, noting any points of tension or discomfort. Treat yourself to a stretch or a little self-massage. Now focus on your emotions. It’s Ok to Not Be Ok

It takes a lot of courage to face your own problems and ask for help. A lot of people never get to this point, and instead try to repress their feelings or distract themselves with overwork, alcohol, drugs, or s*x. If you have decided to seek help, you should be very proud of yourself for choosing a better way. However, not everyone in your life may be happy that you are getting treatment.
