If you suffer from Headaches or Chronic Migraines, you know how debilitating that can be. 🤕

But good news! They are very treatable with acupuncture and Chinese herbs. The first step is to do a comprehensive intake to determine the root cause of the headache or migraine – are we looking at simple Qi stagnation (tight muscles of the neck and/or scalp causing the pain), or is something more complex like Liver Yang Rising (you’ll probably be irritable and might have high blood pressure with this type), or perhaps it’s due to Blood deficiency (might be accompanied by dizziness and ringing in the ears).

Typically I see substantial if not complete relief from migraines with only a couple of sessions of acupuncture!

Moxibustion (“moxa”) is a traditional Chinese therapy that involves burning artemisia mugwort, a small, spongy herb, over some areas of the body to promote healing. This treatment increases blood flow, stimulates the “qi” flow, and maintains general health.

We use moxibustion is mostly on people with cold conditions. It warms to the body and meridians, which helps promote blood and qi flow.

Cupping therapy is all the rage now – thanks to Michael Phelps, Kim Kardashian, Gwyneth Paltrow, and many others – but it isn’t new. 😉

Cupping therapy has been around for thousands of years, and there are many different styles.

I perform sliding cupping, which entails burning the oxygen inside the cups and sliding it over the skin. By sliding the cups over the muscles, we are gently separating the muscle from the fascia, basically giving the muscle room to relax.

Electricity is all around us, including in our bodies. ⚡️

I get asked this question a lot. Many people have a fear of needles or are hesitant to try acupuncture.

People experience needling differently. The sensation of acupuncture needles is rarely described as painful and can be quickly adjusted if the patient does feel discomfort. If any sensation is experienced during insertion, it is often compared to a mosquito bite and disappears very quickly. This is how an acupuncturist engages the energy in your body in order to help balance it. Often people describe their sensations as warming, heavy, numb, or tingling. I take great care to make my clients very comfortable so that they can relax while the needles are in place. The more you can relax during an acupuncture treatment, the better the results. Many people even fall asleep during treatment.

Following treatment, it is common to feel a tremendous sense of relaxation and calm.
