October is Domestic Violence Awareness Month. Intimate partner violence, also called domestic violence, is common among Veterans. Intimate partner violence is the most common cause of injury to women in the U.S.

Intimate partner violence is defined as actual or threatened emotional, physical, or s*xual abuse or stalking behaviors by an intimate partner. It may happen once or be a pattern of events that gets worse over time. Intimate partner violence may occur with a current or former boyfriend, girlfriend, or spouse of any s*x or gender. Partners do not have to have s*x or live in the same place. Both women and men can experience it. 1 out of 3 women Veterans are hurt by someone they love.

On Wednesday, October 25, wear purple in support of intimate partner violence awareness. Stop the violence!
