Our heart is so full!! 🥰 Today the hospital Foundation received a donation of HANDMADE “busy blankets” from students at C.B. Aycock High School. We are so grateful for Jill Suggs Weisiger and her students who took the time to make these for our patients. The effort was led by UNC Health Wayne teammate, Kris Spraggins. Busy blankets, also known as sensory or fidget blankets, provide dementia patients with a calming, engaging activity that helps reduce anxiety and agitation. They stimulate the senses, promote cognitive function, and can improve focus and find motor skills. What makes these blankets so special is that they were made by our own students here in Wayne County!

The Foundation’s new diabetes prevention program is out in our community!! We have worked hard to bring this to Wayne County and have already seen how impactful it can be for individuals at risk of developing type 2 diabetes. 🚐🩸🚐
