It was fun to be back at a big competition this weekend. I have missed it. I got to hang out with friends and reconnect with some blasts from the past. When I see my athletes moving well and performing at their best, it makes what I do worth it.

One of the questions I get asked most often is “How often should I get a massage?”
You might Google it and find something like this pic…which is absolute nonsense.
There is no one-size-fits-all answer to this question. Here are a few things to discuss with your MT to determine your needs:
1. Activity level/fitness goals
2. Frequency/intensity of training/activity
3. Current/past injuries
4. Normal work/home lifestyle
5. Willingness to do recovery work on your own
6. Nutrition
7. Hydration
8. Sleep
Your frequency may change based on any of these factors. Are we treating an injury? Are we getting ready for a competition? Are you cruising in maintenance mode?

Did you know you don’t have to walk around in pain all the time? It’s not a required part of ANY sport. It doesn’t make you tougher, or manlier, or a more impressive athlete.
In fact, it hinders your athletic performance, limits your capabilities in and out of the gym and leads to long term muscular imbalances and compensatory movement patterns.
