🌍 Today is World Health Day 🌍

Today, we are proud to recognize the Ascension Parish Public Health Unit and the many professionals and partners who work every day to keep our community healthy, informed, and supported.

This year’s theme, “Together for health. Stand with science,” is a powerful reminder that strong communities are built when we trust evidence-based care, invest in prevention, and work together to make health services accessible to everyone. Science helps guide the care, screenings, treatments, outreach, and education that improve lives every day — and collaboration is what turns that knowledge into real impact for families across our parish.

Through the Healthy Ascension partnership, APG and FMOL Health | Our Lady of the Lake are working together to expand access to public health, mental and behavioral health services, preventative care, and school and community wellness initiatives. It also includes support through the Ascension Counseling Center, which provides mental and behavioral health services for children, adolescents, adults, couples, and families, along with evaluations, medication management, counseling, addiction services, hearing and vision services, community health education, mobile clinics, and more.

The Senior Farmers’ Market Nutrition Program is helping eligible seniors in Louisiana enjoy fresh, locally grown produce and honey from approved farmers’ markets and roadside stands.

If you or a loved one is age 60 or older and meet income requirements, you may qualify to receive $30 in food benefits to spend on healthy, nutritious options grown right here in our community.

This is a great opportunity to support local farmers while also prioritizing your health and wellness.

The Ascension Parish Health Unit will be closed TODAY, December 11 for renovations as we continue making improvements to better serve our community.

📍 TOMORROW, December 12, primary care and immunizations services will be available from the mobile health bus (no WIC services).

Normal operations will resume on Monday, December 15.
