Most parents have NO idea what’s sitting on their child’s scalp… 👀
In this video, we gave Mom a microscopic scalp consultation, and now she wants her daughter checked too. And honestly, I’m glad she did. A child’s scalp can reveal so much that you can’t see with the naked eye.
Kids’ Scalp Care 101:
• Gentle weekly cleansing. Kids sweat and build up oils fast.
• Use lightweight, kid-friendly products. Heavy gels can clog tiny follicles.
• Avoid tight styles that put tension on developing follicles.
• Hydrate the scalp to prevent dryness and early irritation.
• Support scalp health from the inside by avoiding excess sugar and processed foods.
• Be mindful of dairy. For some kids, dairy can increase inflammation and contribute to dry patches, flakes, or increased scalp irritation.
Check the scalp on wash day to catch issues early.
Healthy habits now create healthier, stronger hair as they grow.
Other things that can contribute to scalp issues or breakage:
• Sleeping without a satin bonnet or pillowcase
• Sweat sitting on the scalp for too long
• Using harsh shampoos
• Using adult products on children with delicate scalps
• Not rinsing out products completely
• Dehydration
Here’s a Parent Tip:
Healthy hair starts from the inside.
Encourage more water, fruits, vegetables, and whole foods. Limit sugary snacks, processed foods, and dairy if you notice dryness or irritation.
A balanced diet supports a balanced scalp.
Most parents focus on the hair, but the scalp is where the real growth happens, especially for kids.
If you’re unsure what’s happening on your little one’s scalp, you don’t have to guess.
