👶 How Do I Know If My Baby Is Hungry or Just Comfort Nursing?
Hunger cues usually show up before crying — think rooting, hand-sucking, or turning their head toward your chest. During true hunger feeds, you’ll notice rhythmic sucking and swallowing sounds as they actively drink milk. Comfort nursing, on the other hand, often looks slower and more relaxed — your baby may suck lightly, pause often, or even fall asleep at the breast.
Both types of nursing are important! Hunger feeds nourish their body, while comfort feeds soothe, bond, and regulate their emotions. Trust your instincts — you’ll start to recognize the difference as you learn your baby’s unique rhythm and cues. 💕
