What To Do When Baby Bites😬

It can be startling (and painful!) when your baby bites during nursing — but it’s a common phase, especially when teething starts. Stay calm and gently unlatch your baby right away to show that biting ends the feeding. Avoid yelling or reacting sharply, as it can scare them or make nursing stressful.

Offer a teething toy before nursing to help soothe their gums, and watch for cues that they’re done eating so you can unlatch before they get playful. Most babies outgrow this stage quickly once they understand that gentle nursing means more snuggles — not surprises! 💕

💖 Feeling Sore After Nursing?

Try using a warm compress before feeding to help milk flow and a cool compress afterward to soothe discomfort. Taking care of your comfort not only helps your body heal but also makes feeding a better experience for you and your baby. Small self-care steps can make a big difference!

Many women with breast cancer don’t notice any symptoms — which is why regular screenings are so important. Early detection truly saves lives. If you are over the age of 40, make sure your mammogram is scheduled and encourage the women you love to do the same.💖

👶 How Do I Know If My Baby Is Hungry or Just Comfort Nursing?

Hunger cues usually show up before crying — think rooting, hand-sucking, or turning their head toward your chest. During true hunger feeds, you’ll notice rhythmic sucking and swallowing sounds as they actively drink milk. Comfort nursing, on the other hand, often looks slower and more relaxed — your baby may suck lightly, pause often, or even fall asleep at the breast.

Both types of nursing are important! Hunger feeds nourish their body, while comfort feeds soothe, bond, and regulate their emotions. Trust your instincts — you’ll start to recognize the difference as you learn your baby’s unique rhythm and cues. 💕
