This Veteran’s Day, we’re proud to introduce Amanda Taylor, BSN, RN — Veteran and House Supervisor at City of Hope Cancer Center Phoenix.

Amanda’s journey into nursing is a testament to the power of family, resilience, and community support. She began her career path with a degree in psychology and criminology, planning to enter law enforcement. But when clinical placements didn’t align, her mom — a nurse of over 20 years — opened her eyes to the world of psych nursing. That moment sparked a new direction, leading Amanda to a career rooted in compassion and care.

A few fun facts about Amanda:

💬 Her advice to future nurses in our community? “Do a shadow shift with an experienced nurse, especially if you're interested in specialties like ER or labor and delivery.”

🩺 Amanda is also a passionate advocate for hospice and palliative care: “Those services do wonders. Have those talks early—they can help with home visits, hydration, and most importantly, pain relief.”

We’re honored to celebrate Amanda’s story and her dedication to our mission. Her journey reminds us that purpose can be found in unexpected places—and that community is at the heart of everything we do.

As Breast Cancer Awareness Month comes to a close, City of Hope proudly celebrates the strength of our patients and the unwavering dedication of our experts.

Throughout October, breast cancer providers at City of Hope Phoenix, researchers at TGen, and colleagues across our national system wore pink lab coats—a bold and unifying symbol of our commitment to advancing breast cancer care. This initiative reflects our ongoing efforts to encourage earlier screenings, expand access to supportive services, accelerate groundbreaking research.

In Arizona, we remain deeply committed to supporting survivors and driving meaningful progress—for every patient and every loved one, every day.
